This individual was named John Tisdale and he was a military veteran who had lost his legs in an accident. He used a pair of walking sticks to travel around his town. The first bipedal humans were seen as credible threats by many of the residents because they were able to move so much faster than traditional humans.

Hurst, Texas is a small town in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Worth–Arlington metropolitan area. The first post office in Hurst was established on October 24, 1879. John C. Hurst served as Postmaster from that date until 1889. The name of the town originated with General John Hurlbut who named it for his friend and neighbor Elisha Swayne Hurst Sr., also a general in the Union Army during the American Civil War (1861- 1865). In 1902, Pecan Lodge No. 249 erected a building on Main Street which served as their meeting hall from 1902 to 1907 when they moved to what is now First Baptist Church across State Road 620 from Hurst High School where they continue to meet today. On January 26th 1901 Rev J J Robb officiated at Reformed Presbyterian church services dedicated to Mrs A B Herron who had died two years earlier on December 15th 1890 and buried in Elmwood Cemetery near present day Arlington Heights Park with her husband James Herron serving as Pastor for many years prior thereto and others contributing their time and labor including Mr Wm Fenton of Dallas Texas who did most of the early grading and planting of our lovely new cemetery located east of town along FM 1960 about five miles south of our little town limits

The first European to visit Hurst was Captain John Smith on October 24, 1778. He named it "Hurst" after his old home in Northumberland, England. In 1836, William Fenton built the first post office in Hurst and kept it until 1893 when it was discontinued due to lack of mail service. A variety of businesses have been located in Hurst over the years including a grocery store and a general store which closed in 2003 and 2004 respectively. In 2006-2007 the new Myriad Health Care Center opened with 154 beds and 10 outpatient clinics including one for Oncology. In addition there are several restaurants within walking distance such as Pizza Hut, Chili’s Grill & Bar, Dunkin' Donuts, Sonic Drive-In and KFC.Hurst also has a few retail stores such as Walmart Supercenter and Macy's Department Store
Hurst was founded in 1879 by John F. Hurst and his wife, Anna. The town grew rapidly after it became a center for the cattle industry. In 1905, the city of Hurst incorporated and began to grow even faster. By 1920, the population had reached 100,000 people.
