So they started planning what became known as The downtown district which today includes much of central Humble with some buildings dating back to before incorporation including the original courthouse where court proceedings were held until 1959 when Galveston County moved its county seat from Galveston to Huntsville because that location had become too populous for Galveston County's limited resources).
