In the early 1920s, Humble was a small town in Texas. The population was only around 1,000 people and there were no schools. But entrepreneurs like J.B. Handy started businesses in Humble because they saw an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of residents. One of these entrepreneurs, J.B.'s son, John B Handy Jr., started a company that sold optical accessories called "The Optical Company." By the late 1920s, The Optical Company had become one of the most successful companies in America and it remained so until its retirement in 1984. One of The Optical Company's primary products was eyeglasses. In fact, most of their sales came from selling eyeglasses to customers who needed them for work or school purposes. However, The Optical Company also made other types of optical products such as telescopes and microscope coversalls (which helped protect equipment from damage). But even though The Optical Company produced some amazing products over the years, one product that particularly stands out is their telescope aerial system. This system allowed users to view stars up close without having to leave their home! And believe me – those views were worth paying for!
A few weeks ago, I attended a trade show for optical accessories. One of the exhibitors was selling a new product called the Lighthouse. Humble, Texas is a small town in Midland County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,995 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. Humble is named after Edwin Humble, one of the original landowners in what would become Midland County. The earliest settlers in what would become Midland County were farmers and their families who arrived around 1876. Most of these settlers came from England and Scotland. By 1907 there were only five houses in Humble and just seventy-six people living there full time. However, due to its location on the Red River near Lubbock and Fort Worth, Humble quickly became a transportation center for goods heading eastward from those cities into Marshall County or westward to Odessa and El Paso (then known as Southern Arizona). In 1915 oil was discovered at Permian Basin in western Midland County by Texaco Oil Company executives John D. Rockefeller and William Randolph Hearst. They dubbed the site "Humble" because it had been unleased to other companies yet remained undeveloped by them. This led to further development of the community with many businesses opening up including a grocery store, hospital, post office, cotton gin/spinning mill, cattle market/ feed lot/, dance hall/theater etc.. In 1941 Joplin tornado struck easternMidlandCounty killing thirty-two people;twenty-eight out of fifty homes were destroyed or damaged; most notably Humble's Baptist Church which went up in flames as all other buildings within two blocks collapsed onto itself resulting in an estimated $5 million loss for that particular structure alone!
The history of optical accessories can be traced back to the early days of photography. After developing an interest in optics while studying law at Edinburgh University, Scottish artist and photographer David Stone built his first camera in 1881.Stone's camera utilized a pair of Cooke glass plates that were combined to create images by focusing the light rays from one plate onto the other. This technology was later refined by British scientist John Herschel who used a mirror to focus light instead of a glass plate. In 1907, American photographer Carl Zeiss developed a new type of photographic film called Jena Film which featured negative images on celluloid sheets that could be developed and scanned into digital form. By 1948, electronic cameras had become common, so optical equipment became necessary for taking pictures with these devices. In 1951, American photographer Julius Baer introduced the first digital SLR camera which allowed users to take pictures with lenses that required an attached lens cap or hood. Optical attachments have since become ubiquitous on professional photography gear, making it easier and more comfortable for photographers to capture amazing photos without having to remove their equipment every time they want to take a picture!

Humble is a town in Johnson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. Humble was named after its founder, Humble W. Smith. The town of Humble was founded by Humble W. Smith in 1879. He purchased land east of the Trinity River and built a log cabin that served as his headquarters until 1881 when he moved to what is now the corner of Elm and Houston Streets in downtown Humble. In 1892, he donated land to the city of Austin for use as a public square and building blocks were erected around it to create what is today known as North Lamar Park. In 1907, the town charter was amended to allow for election of directors by popular vote instead of by meeting date or nomination from committee (a practice still followed). On October 15th 1907, voters approved an ordinance granting incorporation to the town with a population of fifty-two people and setting forth how it would be organized: "The first board shall consist thereof three citizens elected at large; one from each ward; two members from each business district within said town limits; one member from each section within said town limits; one member from each township within said Johnson County." On November 3rd 1907, elections were held for directors with 50% turnout required for incorporation into the city limit commission but only 2 residents voting on incorporation having any impact on organization or governance (the other being Jackson who abstained). This event signaled an early trend towards self-governance among Texans which would continue throughout much of American history culminating with statehood in 1931.
