It first opened its doors in 1923. At that time, handguns were not as common as they are now and ammo could only be bought from special stores. In 1935, The Pistolero merged with another ammunition magazine, Rambler, to form Rambler-Pistolero Ammunition Corporation. This company became the largest handgunmagazine distributor in the country. In 1954, they changed their name to National Rifle & Shotgun Magazines Incorporated (NR&SM). NR&SM continued to distribute handguns until 1988 when they merged with Ammo Unlimited to become Ammo Unlimited-National Rifle Association (ANRA) firearms dealer corporation effective 1/1/1989[1]. Anchorst Shooting Supply operated from 1978-1987 as a subsidiary of Ammo Unlimited before being acquired by Evergreen Firearms Corporation on 1/1/1988[2]. Evergreen Firearms Corporation then merged with American Outdoor Brands Company on 12/31/1992[3] giving rise to what is currently known as NRA Guns Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of NRA member organization American Outdoor Brands Corporation (AOBC) [4]. As of 1/1/2013,[5], NRA Guns Ltd.'s store count is 35 locations across the United States.[6] Gun mag history begins with NR&SM’s merger with Ammo Unlimited which gave rise to NRA Guns Ltd., an all encompassing firearms retailer chain which included 35 locations across America

Gun magazines have a long and varied history. From the earliest days of firearms, magazine-fed firearms were used to provide firepower for soldiers and militias. The first revolver was designed as a magazine-fed weapon, and early pistols were also fed by means of a revolving cylinder. The introduction of breechloading handheld firearms in the late 18th century led to the development of ammunition that could be loaded into individual rounds in gun magazines. This change allowed for larger numbers of shots to be fired with less time between each shot, which made militia armies more effective and popularized using handguns for self-defense. Pistol shooters began using revolvers as their primary firearm instead of rifles, which helped spur the growth of handgun hunting as an hunting pastime across America. The advent of Prohibition in America led to a decline in gun production and circulation throughout most countries during the 1920s. However, some gun manufacturers continued production until well into the 1930s, while others converted old guns into rifle calibers or developed new designs specifically for pistol use. In 1934, Germany passed a law banning all handguns except those registered with government officials, which caused much surprise among American arms manufacturers who had been producing assault rifles on an industrial scale since World War I. The ban did not take effect until 1935 when it was repealed by Hitler due to public outcry over his policies towards Jews and other minorities at that time. During World War II many American companies produced munitions for Nazi Germany including Winchester Arms Company and Browning Arms Company; these companies also exported military surplus weapons back to America once the war ended. Many people believe that these companies played a significant role in helping arm both sides during World War II, although no definitive evidence exists to support this claim

The name Houston was selected from a list of thirty candidates submitted by Captain John Fayetteville during his governor's race in 1835. In 1845, Houston became the capital of Texas after Austin was given back its charter by Mexico City following its victory over United States forces at San Jacinto Creek. In 1861, Confederate general Robert Ewell moved his army into downtown Houston to prepare for battle against Union forces under George Stephen Troup at Bannockburn Ridge outside of town; however, before he could take place,Houston surrendered and integration into Texas took effect.[1] The flourishing oil industry played an important role in shaping Houston's character and economy throughout its history. Downtown development began with the creation of an artificial beachhead called Beachwood near Buffalo Bayou in 1859 which grew into one of America's leading shipyards and naval yards during Reconstruction period (1865-1877). By 1886Texaco had built two million barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil production capacity outfitted with world-class equipment and processing plants at Fairholme Plantation near what is now Loop 610 south;[2] this led to rapid growth in downtown business districts such as Rice Village (later known as713 Westheimer), Montrose Center (now University Park), Astrodome (later NRG Stadium), Third Ward/Uptown/Mallard Pointe Shopping Center(now Galveston Heights)), Northwest Branch Library District, Warehouse District/Eddie Bauer Place(now Dempster Street Plaza), Bayview/Baytown Center(now IHOP restaurant district)); Midtown BusinessDistrict(now Ballpark district)); Clear Lake area east of Interstate 10 including much of East End annexed by Clearlake; northwest corner Gulf Freeway including sectionsalong it now annexed by Rosenberg Rancho; Sam Rayburn House adjacent to Museum District off Robertson Boulevard just northof downtown annexation boundary
