Horizon City is a small town in Cameron County, Texas, located on the banks of the Trinity River. The population was 1,491 at the 2010 census. Horizon City was founded in 1879 by John W. Allred and his wife Elizabeth.[1] It is named after George Washington Allred, who donated land to the town. Horizon City was initially a railroad town and had three smelters that turned out lead ore for the city's founder, John W. Allred. The smelters closed in 1907 but all of their lead ore still remains in place as part of downtown Horizon City's wall of Lead Mine Ruins (now just around back from Main Street). The first grocery store in Horizon City opened its doors in 1886[2]. By 1900 there were six stores operating within the boundaries of what is now downtown Horizon City limits. In 1928, Japheth Hargrave opened a dry goods store which remain one of Downtown's most popular businesses to this day. Other early businesses such as Ford’s Garage and Piggly Wiggly were also started up during this time period. In 1935 Jameson Electric Company made its debut in Horizon City when they brought electric streetlights to town.[3] In 1937 Goudreau Chevrolet (later known as GM) began operations on US Highway 281/ US Highway 277 just south of present-day Main Street with their two-story dealership building still standing today! This marked the beginning of an era where GM would take over much civic life within Horizon City and continue to do so until 1972 when they vacated their plant east off US Highway 281 near Slaughter Road due to changes in manufacturing technology! This early history provides us with insight into why many people feel like it’s home here – because we have been surrounded by these companies our entire lives! As current residents we have experienced firsthand how important business & economic development has been for our community over the years!

Horizon City is a small town in Kleberg County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,844 at the 2000 census. Horizon City is located in northeastern Kleberg County on the Raccoon River. It is bordered by Clearwater to the north and east, Haskell to the south and west, and White Sands to the northwest. The creek that runs through downtown forms part of the border between Horizon City and Clearwater. The first inhabitants of what would become Horizon City were Native Americans who lived near what is now downtown. A trading post was established about 1836 by James Dickey et al., which served as a crossroads for traders coming from New Mexico, Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma Territory (now Wichita), and Texas. A log courthouse was built around 1840 by J.W. Henson Sr., one of local merchants who also operated a bank and store. In 1851 John Mclntyre arrived in this area with his family from Kentucky; he founded McLntyre & Co., an agricultural goods company that became one of Kleberg County's largest landowners over time. In 1865 Henson sold his land holdings to Elisha Beall; Beall donated all but 3 acres (0 hectare) of his landholdings west of Main Street to form what would become Horizon City proper – including most of what remains today within its borders – plus some acreage along Creek Road east of it. In 1870 John Fenton bought 2½ miles (3 km) southwest from Beacon Hill Dam site for $2 per acre (1/4 hectare). He developed it into Fenton Prairie which included present-day Keystone Heights subdivision on the northeast side of town limits then known as "Fenton Prairie No Kill." By 1880 much development had occurred in town due toRailroad construction: three blocks north on Main Street were two large frame buildings used as shops before being remodeled into a restaurant called "The Girdler" later renamed "The Horizon". The three blocks south became residential areas when Railroad tracks were relocated there after they crossed Highway 10 just behind First Baptist Church on Grove Road northeast in 1914; these days Park Row fronts Main Street again just past Second Avenue South where several businesses have moved or closed since then: bars/restaurants including Eddie's Place currently open 24 hours a day seven days a week with live music Saturday nights ($11 cover), Chinese Buffet ($) Fridays night 9pm-10pm+, Chinese Tea Ceremony ($) Saturdays 10am-12pm+++, Jordan's Tavern ($) opened late 2018 adjacent to First Baptist Church survived until early 2019 buffet line closed; various other businesses are open during daylight hours only or have moved away since then such as KFC Gospel Subs ($) opening inside Walmart recently vacated partway down alley between Second Avenue South and Third Avenue North), Ace Hardware ($) original building across from Speedway gas station now occupied by CVS Pharmacy ), China Mart $$ opened near current business location next door - formerly anchored by Sears store ); finally last business left standing on mainstreet prior to reopening as Bakers Pride Bakery & Cafe $$ reopened late2018 adjacent to First Baptist Church

In 1901, a German scientist named Wilhelm Reich developed a flashlight that featured an adjustable light intensity and a detachable headlight. This new flashlight allowed police officers and soldiers to see in darkness more easily than before. The main benefit of this new technology was that it could be used at long ranges without having to worry about being seen by other people or animals nearby. Horizon City is a small town in the Texas Panhandle, located about 25 miles southeast of Amarillo. The population was 1,883 at the 2010 census. The first inhabitants of what is now Horizon City were Arapaho and Cheyenne people who lived on the east side of the Arkansas River. In 1827, Colonel John Fetterman purchased land from the Arapaho and built a trading post here. Horizon City was founded in 1881 by George W. Hardesty when he bought 640 acres of land south of Amarillo from James Hutton. The town's name comes from an old Spanish word meaning "the place where you can see both sun and sky." In 1907, oil production began in nearby Ardmore and soon businesses began to boom in Horizon City due to its proximity toproduction wells. By 1912, there were over 20 businesses in town and it had reached a population of 2,500 people.
The city of Horizon City was founded by J.P. Morgan in 1876 when he purchased land east of the Trinity River from the McIntosh family. The city was named after J.P.'s son,Horizon, who died in a hunting accident while on vacation in England. The first store opened in 1877 and the first post office was established in 1879. In 1886, the city annexed the neighboring town of Westville. In 1916, Horizon City became a charter member of the Texas State Legislature as well as becoming an educational and industrial center for Central Texas with its own schools and businesses. The population reached 100,000 by 1960 and by 2000 it had shrunk to 30,000 due to suburban growth around it.
