In 2003, Horizon City was the setting for a gun tragedy that left six people dead. The shooting took place at an outdoor game of paintball when two gunmen opened fire on a group of innocent players. One gunman killed five people and injured several others before being shot and killed by police. The tragedy inspired lawmakers to create stricter gun laws in Texas and made Horizon City one of the mostrano communities affected by gun violence in the Lone Star State. Since then, Horizon City has seen decreases in crime rates as well as an increase in gun safety awareness initiatives. In 2008, Horizon City hosted the first-ever Gun Safe Summit which aimed to raise public awareness about responsible firearm ownership and security measures for homes. The summit brought together community leaders, educators, law enforcement officials, and firearms experts from across the state to discuss best practices for securing homes with firearms. Today, there are more than 1,000 Crime Gun Control Task Forces located throughout Texas that work together to reduce violent crime by confiscating guns from convicted criminals and their families. This effort is often referred to as “The War on Drugs” because it is successful in reducing crime but also causes significant collateral damage such as social upheaval and loss of jobs.

Horizon City is a city in the Joaquin Valley region of Texas. It is located in Hidalgo County, about 20 miles (32 km) east of El Paso and 30 miles (48 km) north of Dallas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 18,715. The name Horizon City comes from Fort Worth's location on a bend in the Rio Grande, at an altitude of 3,000 feet (800 m). The first settler in what is now Horizon City was George Fenton who homesteaded land around 1885. He named his new community after John Davenport's famous book "The American West" which he had read while on a trip to Mexico. In 1907, James Waddell started farming what would become Horizon City and named it after himself. The first post office was established in Horizon City on March 17, 1908. In 1915, oil drilling began in nearby Abilene and production increased as people discovered gas reserves and oil shale under the soil near Horizon City. By 1924, there were over 100 businesses operating within the town limits with an average weekly payroll of $1,200+. In 1928-29 George Fenton donated land to build a school that still stands today as one of downtown's most popular attractions.

The .22 caliber pistol has become one of the most popular projectile weapons in history due To its affordability ($350 per weapon), easy maneuverability (.22LR projectiles travel at around 230 meters per second), low recoil (less than 0.5 magnum) making it suitable for novice shooters (< 18 years old) while still providing enough power (10 rounds per minute) for experienced shooters (> 18 years old) Additionally because there are so few restrictions on where you can purchase these weapons in America today (.22 caliber handguns are currently legal within 100 miles from any state border), online retailers like Gunbroker offer reliable deals on pre-owned guns destined for American citizens living outside OFA (& Canada). Horizon City is a small town in Richardson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Horizon City is located on U.S. Route 83 and State Highway 183. The town was founded by citizens of nearby Arlington in 1868 as a stop on the stagecoach route from Dallas to Fort Worth. By 1890, it had grown sufficiently to be incorporated as a town under the name Arlington Heights. In 1912, Arlington Heights annexed the neighboring city of Commerce and became known as Horizon City after its two main streets were renamed Commerce Street and Interstate 10 (now I-20). In 1938, when Interstate 30 was built through Richardson County, it bypassed what would become Horizon City; consequently, most of the original downtown business buildings were destroyed or converted into housing during this time frame. However, many of these structures are still extant today and can be seen within walking distance of downtown cores like Plano or Irvington. In 1957, after being without an adequate water supply for more than two years due to a construction project near Lubbock (at that time also in Richardson County), Horizon City voters approved annexation by Dallas intoDallas metropolitan area effective July 1st that year pursuant to then-City Manager Harry Ahern's recommendation that local government function best as one entity with shared resources within a larger metropolitan area concept which he called "The Great Divide." On December 5th of that same year Houston Mayor Tom Bradley announced his intent to annex all unincorporated parts of Richardson County including Horizon City if elected Mayoralty which he did not win but carried out anyway because his challenger won't give up their annexation request regardless of whether they win or lose their election campaign promise not to do so should they be successful in becoming Mayor/Mayoraltiesmen while they are serving concurrently as Commissioners on both Dallas & San Antonio Governments respectively Additionally throughout much debate surrounding early Metropolitan Area Plans there has been little discussion about whether any specific areas within / outside The Great Divide actually benefit From The merger And although some residents may claim otherwise There is evidence that certain businesses located near Downtown Dallas have increased competition compared To those in other parts Of The metroplex And although some people may feel That Wasn't fair /that businesses should have gotten preferential treatment When They Were First Adopted & Still Do Now Some residents Of My Town Have even Started Calling themselves "The New Frontier" because OF How Our Community Has bounced Back After Being Foe'd So Many Times In The Past
In 1836, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo was signed between Mexico and the United States. This treaty ended the Mexican-American War and recognized the independence of Texas. The area that is now Horizon City was founded in 1837 as a small community on a Rancho San Antonio. In 1849, the town became an adobe settlement when members of the cattle ranchers who lived in nearby Palo Alto leveled their ranchos to build their homes. The development of railroad transportation allowed for more people to move into Horizon City, which grew rapidly in population and economy. In 1907, Horizon City become a city after it passed an act of Congress recognizing its autonomy from Hudspeth County.
