In 1877, John Moses Browning patented the first gun trigger. This invention allowed for guns to be fired with a simple pull of the trigger. Trigger technology has since evolved and changed many times, but the basic design remains unchanged today. The triggers on most handguns use a hammer that is cocked before the firing pin is pulled back to fire the cartridge. Horizon City is a city in Webb County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Webb County. Horizon City was founded by John Wesley Powell on October 22, 1885 as a small outpost on the banks of the Red River near its confluence with the Brazos River. The town grew rapidly after it was incorporated in 1886 and soon became known for its irrigated cotton fields and cattle ranching operations. In 1912, Horizon City annexed part of Uvalde County to form Webb County. In 1950, when Interstate 35W was constructed through Webb County, most of Horizon City's commercial center moved to Uvalde to take advantage of the new highway route. However, some businesses continued to operate in downtown Horizon City until they were relocated again when I-35W was widened and expanded into what is now north side of town. By 2000, all but one business had been closed or relocated within city limits; however, some remain active in nearby towns like Mansfield and White Sulphur Springs. Today much of downtown has been reconstructed as part of a massive $10 million redevelopment project that began in 2007 and is ongoing; including new restaurants and shops as well as renovation of many older buildings dating back to 1886. Much progress has also been made on restoring archived city data which has languished since before digital technology became popularized

Horizon City, Texas is a town in Hudspeth County, Texas. It was founded in 1881 by white settlers and has been located on the Brazos River since its creation. The population of Horizon City was 7,824 at the 2010 census. The town is named after Captain George Morrison, an early settler who led a group of men across the Brazos River to find land for their new town. The first post office in Horizon City was established in 1881, and it remained in operation until 1907. In 1925, the town became an independent county and changed its name to Hudspeth County. The population of Horizon City increased from 2,000 to 7,824 by 2010. As of the census of 2000, there were 5,619 people living in Horizon City proper and 479 residents residing on Indian Reservations within Hudspeth County. The townsite that now makes up downtown Horizon City was laid out by Captured Soldier James Auld about 1860 as a place where he could trade goods with his Native American friends while supplies lasted during the Mexican-American War (1846-48). When hostilities ended two years later and Mexico ceded Texas to America as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, Auld's idea caught on as a possible site for a new city due to its location between two major rivers – one flowing into Buffalo Bayou west of Houston while another flowed east into Houston over Buffalo Bayou. Captain George Morrison set off from his farmstead near present-day Bowie just north of what is now First Ward on October 8th 1881 with 10 men looking for land grants along Buffalo Bayou south of West Fairside Road which they had heard about from General Sam Houston’s forces engaged against Santa Anna’s Mexican Army at San Jacinto Bridge nine days earlier; they found only abandoned farms so they returned home without any land grants that day or any future attempts to establish such settlements because no government would give away land without compensation for acquired title except under specific circumstances such as purchase outright from Spanish claimants at public sale; this event marked the beginning of what would eventually become known as “the settlement period” when Texans beganstakes claims upstream against river banks similar to those experienced by Captured Soldiers James Auld & John Holcombe circa 1860-1871 subsequent thereto resulting then in various titles including but not limited to Rancho del Rio Grande y de la Sierra (Greater Western Range & Sierra), Rancho de las Palmas Blancas y de los Olivos (Blanket Mountains & Olivine Hills), etc.- all referring collectively hereafter hereininafter known collectively hereininatively simply as "Horizon". When Captain George Morrison discovered oil well offshore his original intent had been realized when he found oil shale near present day Corpus Christi however due initially only natural gas wells were being drilled statewide at that time drilling mud operators finally encountered petroleum shale therefore becoming interested therein followed suit latterly by other companies prior to 1915 drillers successfully exploiting crude oil beneath present day Horizon Creek Oil Field though initial production ceased thereafter due primarily then related principally now also largely environmentally based concerns particularly around water contamination thereby leading ultimately both state regulatory authority pertaining thereto plus private investors christened "The Coalition" - formed originally composed principally thereof meeting annually thereafter IIRC currently comprising numerous individual entities thru various representatives duly elected therein or commonly referred thereto or participants thereto resultant thenceforth simply called "The Coalition."
Horizon City was founded in 1851 as a small trading post on the banks of the Brazos River. In 1870, it became an American settlement when General Sam Houston purchased it from the Native Americans. It grew rapidly during the late 19th century as a result of its location on the railroad network and its access to water resources. By 1910, Horizon City had reached its peak population size with over 25,000 people. However, during World War II, Horizon City was destruction by Japanese bombing raids and residents were forced to flee their homes. Today, there is only a few remaining buildings from original Horizon City that are used for tourist attractions.
