Today, Gun Lube is one of the most well-known and respected lubricants in the country. In fact, it's even been featured on TV shows such as "The Office" and "Hawaii Five-0". However,Gun Lube's origins go much further back than that. Lubricants first began to be used on firearms in 1847 when David Hogg patented his recipe for a oil-based lubricant. At first, these oils were only used for horses; however, over time they were adapted to other types of animals as well. Gun lubes were first manufactured commercially in 1908 by John Hughes & Son Ltd., who marketed their products under the name "Oilatum" (Figures 3 and 4). Gun lube development has continued to be refined over the years as new technologies become available. Today, many different types and formulations are available for use in firearms, making it one of the most complex industries on earth. Horizon City is a small, unincorporated community in Potter County, Texas, United States. The community was founded by pioneers who arrived in 1876. Horizon City is located on the east side of Potter County and is northeast of Waco. As of the 2010 census, its population was 1,521. The town was named after the horizon-likeshaped hills that can be seen from many parts of the town. The original post office was established in 1879 and served as the only location for government until 1915 when it moved to Waco. Today, there are no active postal service facilities in Horizon City and residents must rely on email or other forms of communication for their services. In 1917, an oil pipeline passed through Horizon City and produced natural gas which led to the development of a local industry which included production of automobiles, tires and other items related to automotive manufacture. In the 1950s and 1960s, Horizon City experienced a high level of economic prosperity as it became home to two major corporations: Texaco Inc., which manufactured gasoline products including unleaded gasoline; and Bechtel Corporation (later Bechtel Energy), which constructed muchneeded infrastructure throughout Potter County during this time period such asInterstate 35 (now I-35) and new Interstate 10 (now I-10). However, by 2000 years after its founding most people had left for various reasons including during World War II when many servicemen relocated to what would become Wichita Falls due to shortages caused by then-new mobilization techniques; during Hurricane Katrina; or due to increased competition from surrounding communities within Potter County that had caught up with horizons growth over the past few decades. The last resident living in Horizon City died on July 24th 2005 at age 101 years old according to census records
Horizon City is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, located on the Rio Grande River, about 50 miles (80 km) east of Austin and 120 miles (193 km) south of Dallas. The population was 105,151 as of the 2010 census.[1] It is the county seat for Travis County. The town was founded by George Brazos in 1836 as an agricultural center on what is now the eastern edge of downtown Austin. In 1881, following annexation by Austin, Horizon City became its own municipality with a population of about 3400 people. Over time it grew rapidly due to its location and commerce; in 1912 it had a population of over 8000 people and by 1930 it had reached 100000 residents. During World War II, Horizon City served as both an airfield for B-29s bombing Japan and as a munitions production plant;[2] after the war its economy declined but it regained some status when it was chosen to be the site for a new University of Texas at Austin campus in 1956.[3] The economic decline that followed higher education led to an increased focus on environmental issues which have since impacted Horizon City's popularity: pollution from oil refineries has caused major discharges into nearby Eagle Creek,[4] while developers have proposed building high-density housing developments adjacent to local parks that would impact rare bird populations and create other problems such as water runoff into nearby neighborhoods
