Horizon City, Texas is one of the most interesting small towns in the United States. It was founded by James W. Folsom and his wife Lillie on a rise near the modern-day downtown area in 1881. Over time, other individuals followed suit, and eventually binocular production increased rapidly in Horizont City. By 1910, there were over 1,500 businesses in the town employing around 100 people manufacturing binoculars and optics products. Today, Horizon City remains one of the most important optical communities in America due to its abundant resources of high-quality glass lenses and filaments used in binocular manufacture. In addition to being a center forbinocular production, Horizon City also hosts a number of cultural events throughout the year that allow residents to enjoy some of America’s best scenery while staying up-to-date on world events.

Horizon City, Texas is a city in Wood County, Texas, United States. The population was 7,845 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Wood County. The city is located in the central part of the state on the Brazos River and it has a twin sister city called Fort Worth. Horizon City was founded as a town by Texans who were looking for an agricultural center to support their growing cotton industry. The town grew rapidly and by 1872 had a population of over 1,500 people. In 1902, Cotton Merchant George Waddell donated land to form what would become Horizon City proper. The first post office was established in Horizon City on December 12, 1902. On July 20, 1907, the name of the town changed from "Horizon" to "Fort Worth." The growth of Fort Worth quickly outpaced that of Horizon City and by 1912 there were more than 2,000 residents living in Fort Worth alone compared to just 100 residents living in Horizon City. In 1916 Fort Worth annexed much of what now makes up HorizonCity while still keeping much of its downtown core as its own municipality which remains today an important commercial and residential area for both cities. In 1824, John Herschel designed the first telescope that could be used to see farther than any other instrument at the time, and he realized that usingbinoculars would be a great way to view distant objects. He developed a design that combined two lenses into one unit, allowing him to create more powerful and magnification- capable binoculars. By 1830, most people were able to purchaseand usebinoculars for sightseeing and hunting purposes. It wasn’t until 1862 that General George Buel finally perfected thebinocular system, which relied on four lenses instead of two and allowed users to see further than ever before while still being able to make out small details. This new technology soon became popular among soldiers and civilians alike, allowing them to observe faraway events without havingto carry any extra equipment or risking getting lost in the wilderness.

Over time, Horizon City has undergone various changes - becoming a bedroom community for Austin; developing into a center for Hispanic culture; becoming an entertainment district; and evolving into a sleepy rural town again today.
On October 1, 1876, the city of Houston was founded by businessman Sam Houston. The city's first mayor was James D. Polk and its first streetcars were pulled by horses. In 1907, the Houston Oilers were founded as an American football team that played in the Cotton Bowl.
