Aiva Zapata led an uprising against Santa Anna's forces at Monterrey on February 14th that year resulting in his death; this event marks the beginning of an insurgency against organized Mexican rule that would continue until 1840 when Mexicano fighters finally triumphantly sacked Mexico City and effectively ended all resistance inside Texan borders The first post office opened here on November 3rd, 1850; it was known as San Fernando de Arroyo Post Office until 1865 when it changed its name to Hidalgo Post Office because then-Governor Manuel Micheltorena had ordered the name change due to concerns about possible confusion with nearby San Saba Post Office which had been renamed after Partida Creek (then known as Tomball) creek). The first store was operated by Juana Guerra & Bros.; later operated by Pérez Brothers & Son Ltd.. In 1861 Samuel Morse opened his own general store at corner Main Street/Rio Grande Avenue - since closed down but still standing among other stores near current day National Highway 183 south of town limits .
