Gun Target History in Hidalgo, Texas The first gun target was established in the Hidalgo County area of Texas on April 6, 1857. The target was located at the old fort at San Antonio. It was a large man-shaped piece of wood that could be fired from a cannon. The first successful shoot occurred that day and resulted in a kill. A number of other targets were set up over time, but none achieved such success as the original San Antonio target. The site where the current San Antonio county courthouse stands today is also known as “Old Fort San Antonio” and has been a shooting ground for many years now. In 1865, an additional target facility was built there by order of the Confederate States Congress to promote war games between American and Confederate soldiers. After several failed attempts, it finally became operational on October 20th, 1867 under the name “Fort Worth rifle range” with an authorized capacity of twenty rounds per pistol barrel. In 1903, a new rifle range opened near downtown Dallas which eventually became known as “Fort Worth Rifle Range (now Arlington Park)” after its location within city limits. This NRA firing range remained open until it closed in 1957 due to fire restrictions placed by local authorities following multiple shootings incidents nearby including one that took place on November 5th, 1951 which left four people dead and six others injured at point blank range inside what is now called Dallas Cowboys Stadium Grounds…. Effective January 1st 1959 all states merged into one commonwealth; Texas Consequently all gun ranges closed within their respective borders making it difficult or impossible for Texans to keep their favorite pastime alive anymore!

A new mission was built to serve as the county seat and renamed Hidalgo after José Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna y Costilla y Velázquez (1793-1865), hero of Mexico's war of independence from Spain. In 1876 Houston entrepreneur James Fenton bought 5,000 acres (20 km2) north of present-day Hidalgo for $5 per acre ($/ha). He named his land Harrisburg because he had been offered death by fire if he did not sell it to Houstonian Sam Houston within 12 months. The first post office opened in Harrisburg on May 10, 1880; it was renamed Fort Worth on November 15 that year when Ulysses S Grant became president after defeating Andrew Johnson in the Ulysses S. Grant–Andrew Johnson election of 1868. With only 1 mile (1 km) between each end of downtown Fort Worth - which developed along Main Street between Buffalo Bayou and Elm Street - early settlers were able to mix with other cultures while living close to their churches and businesses while still benefiting from government services such as roads and schools they could access without leaving their homes or communities They also grew crops such as cotton and corn which they brought back with them to sell to local farmers who then turned around and sold their produce back toHouston merchants who then shipped it all over the world Fenton died soon afterwards but his land continues today under various names including White Settlement National Monument (#4), Military Road National Monument (#3), Pioneer Landmark National Monument (#2), Agricultural Experiment Station Ranch #1 & #2 & 3 & 4 & 5 & 6 & 7 @ US 281 N., TX 76523

Hidalgo is one of several small cities that have sprung up around oilfield worker housing developments in the Eagle Ford region of West Texas. These communities are home to large numbers of Latino construction workers who perform various types of construction work for both private companies and government projects in the area. Although many Mexicans have made their homes in these areas, there are also sizable numbers of African Americans and white Americans living within close proximity tooilfields and production facilities.
The Mexican War of Independence began on April 2, 1846, when Mexican forces led by General Manuel Armijo attacked the U.S.-Mexico border town of Hidalgo. The battle lasted three days and ended with a Mexican victory. On July 6, 1846, Mexico declared its independence from Spain and entered into a civil war with American General Antonio López de Santa Anna. On September 15, 1846, Santa Anna's army defeated López de Santa Anna in the Battle of Guadalupe Hidalgo. As a result of this victory, Mexico became an independent country and Hidalgo became its capital. Hidalgo was part of the Texas Territory until it was admitted to the United States as part of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution on November 3, 1912.
