By 1934 Shields had become one of America's largest manufacturers of radios (Atomophon) with plants in Westwood Village (now Austin), Longview (now Arlington), Wichita Falls and Topeka Kansas. When World War II started he built factories that produced equipment for the allies including planes, tanks and guns; post-war production continued until 1957 when production stopped due to economic recession Although closed down most products were replaced by new models which are still being made today including certain types of scanners/copiers etc.. The company name changed to Radio Corporation Of America Corporation in 1958 butShields died suddenly before inauguration giving rise to many rumors about his death which have yet to be verified
