In 1839, Mexican troops invaded Texas and captured San Antonio de Bexar (present day San Antonio de los Baños). At this time, Texans began arming themselves with pistols and shotguns in an effort to protect their homes from Mexican forces. By 1840, handguns had become common among Texans and gun stores had started popping up all over the state. In 1846, Mexico regained control of Texas and designated it as part of its new country—Mexico City would continue to be ruled by Spain until 1898 when it became Republic Of Texas under American rule.—There were several attempts by Texan colonists to gain independence from Mexico but all failed due to military pressure from Mexico.—On October 16th 1861,, Captain Austin Ayerdy surrendered his ship “Eagle” at Galveston Bay after successful gunshots from her guns against a federal warship anchored off shore.—Captain Ayerdy claimed he did not know his ship was boarded because he thought his passengers could get away if they wanted to.—At this point in TX history both nations were running out of arms so international treaties were signed giving each side posthumous recognition for their losses.— Travis Cooley states “It’s interesting how events can play out like that; you never know what might happen next." The Gold Rush ended in 1859 when prices for gold began dropping due to overproduction from California’s Central Valley. This caused a major loss for many miners throughout Northeastern America and led to an economic decline for Hidalgo County overall. However, some ambitious entrepreneurs decided to continue exploring the potential for gold located at Comanche Black Hills near San Angelo Lake – which led to another boom time for its economy between 1865-1875!During this time, oil was discovered nearby onshore at Eagle Ford Field (now called Midland), making Hidalgo County one of the top producers of oilseed production in North America!
