Other notable local residents include artist Edith Bone (1911–1996), entrepreneur Lyndon B Johnson (1924–2008), basketball coach Rick Majerus (1946–2008), author James Baldwin (1925–1987), singer Willie Nelson (1973–2011), musician Jimmy Buffett (1955-2009) and businesswoman Barbara Bush.[1] The current incarnation of Hewitt began developing shortly after World War II ended when several farmers decided to move from other areas within Austin into what is now eastern outskirts of town near Highway 183; their new home would be known as "The Village." This retreat eventually grew into what is now downtown Hewitt with its own shopping center/mall complex called The mall; along with that came much development on Main Street itself: new housing developments such as River Oaks Shopping Center[2], Starwood Place[3], Richardson Mill Rd[4], etc., while also bringing about some changes to old neighborhoods like High St & Lamar which are now just named Boulevard East [5][6]. It wasn't until 2008 that things really started heating up on Main Street with construction starting on what will eventually be known as "The Square" -an open-air plaza bounded by 4th Ave NE & Lamar Blvd NW—home to_(among others) Barnes & Noble,[7] Applebee's,[8][9] Subway,[10] Krispy Kreme[11], Quiznos Pizza [12][13][14]; one could also find various restaurants such as Chili's[15],[16],[17],[18]), Dunkin' Donuts ($)[][]|McDonalds ($)[](), Wendy's ($)[](), Burger King ($) [](), Chick-fil-A ($) [](), Papa John's Pizza $ []()|Carlos Tevez's former restaurant ["Papas"] ($ []())|and Carrabba’s Jr.[20]). Finally there are two large parks located nearby: Deer Park Recreation Area east side ([21]) and west side([22]). Overall though development continue unabated although some aspects have come at a more rapid pace than others like work done on Interstate 35W between north & south boundaries which will finally bring much needed traffic calming features to Hutchison Avenue[/23](see map below).[24]
