The original brick courthouse building was built in 1905 and used until 1987 when it was replaced by a new structure that still stands today. The old courthouse also served as the library from 1907-1972 before being replaced by the current building. The old jail also located within the boundaries of today's town limits but it has been demolished and its remains are currently located east of downtown on Clear Fork Road where they once stood next to an agricultural show barns! Today, you can still find descendants of early settlers living around downtown Hewitt including many farmers who continue to reside there today; however, most residents now work outside or nearer home either through jobs or businesses that have relocated here from other parts of Texas or even other countries!

Hewitt, Texas is a small town located in the portion of the state of Texas that is bordered by missions and West Texas A&M University. The population was 1,818 at the 2010 census. Hewitt is named after Rev. George Washington Hewitt, who served as pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Wichita Falls from 1892 to 1902. The first people to live in what is now Hewitt were the Kiowa and Comanche Indians. They came across the Brazos River in 1827 and began living among the Texans. In 1849, General Sam Houston sent a group of Kiowa and Comanche warriors to attack settlers near present-day Wichita Falls; they were successful and killed many people including Reverend Hewitt. After Houston's death in 1837, his wife, Nance Hogg took over command of the Texan army and moved her husband's belongings from Austin to San Antonio so he could rest easy at last after leading such an impressive victory over Mexico during the Mexican War. In 1865, Rev. George Washington Hewitt organized First Presbyterian Church here which continues to serve as its call center today (serving both local residents as well as visitors). He also created a school district that includes much of what is now eastern Wichita Falls County - one of only a few districts statewide with this type of structure back then! As time passed, other churches were founded throughout central/western TX like Crossroads United Methodist Church (later merged into Trinity Episcopal) which grew up around Hutchins Dam on White Oak Bayou just east of town – it’s still there today! And finally Park Avenue Baptist Church formed outcrops near present day Midland Junction when several families bought land hereabouts in 1915 specifically for worship! It wasn’t until 1948 when downtown was developed that substantial additions were made to houses along Park Ave., but even then Hogg Chapel continued services inside Municipal Building until 1984!!! So pretty much everything that has happened since then has been either through legislation or church growth!!

Hewitt was founded by General James Fenton on August 18, 1876 as part of the Trans-Pecos county line town boundary dispute over what would become east side of Pecos River.
