Hewitt, Texas is a small town located in Medina County, Texas. The population was 1,562 at the 2010 census. Hewitt is part of the Amarillo-Lubbock metropolitan area. The community began as a farmstead on what is now the east side of town. It was named after James Hewitt, an early settler and judge in Medina County. The Hewitt School District No. 3 opened its doors for instruction in 1881. A post office called Hewitt was established in 1885, and served until 1907. In 1911, the name of the town was changed from Hewitt to Medina County when it became part of the new county seat of Medinaville. The first store opened in Hewitt in 1912 and continued to serve until 1959; it was later replaced by a bank which closed in 1969. The only other business establishment open during that time period was a restaurant which operated from 1951 to 1957; it burned down during a storm that year. According to the 2000 census, there were 1,564 people residing in Hewitt when it peak population size occurred at 1,957 individuals; however this figure has since decreased by –1%. As per 2009 estimates,[3] there are 830 residents living within walking distance of HWTS including 593 children between 0-18 years old[4], 251 households (of which include both resident parents and nonresident children) with an average income over $35K[5], 149 full-time jobs (including 2 professionals), 117 businesses with payroll totaling $2 million[6], 6 single fathers working outside their home or within their own homes caring for young children while they are still attending school,[7] as well as 4 single mothers working inside their homes caring for young children while they are still attending school.[8][9] With so many active citizens engaged through various aspects of life here—from agriculture to retail trade—the community provides opportunities for social interaction that havelasting effects on its residents long after they leave HWTS.[10]

Hewitt is a small town in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,473 at the 2010 census. Hewitt is part of the Fort Worth Metropolitan Statistical Area. Hewitt began as a stagecoach stop on the Baylor–Fort Worth Railroad in 1887 and became a community in 1912 when it was annexed by Fort Worth. The first settlers in what is now Hewitt were white people from east Tennessee who came to this area during the early 1800s looking for new land to settle. In 1887, Plains mail carrier and business man John Beaumont stopped at what is now Hewitt on his way to Fort Worth for another day's work. He saw an opportunity to make money selling goods he carried overland from East Tennessee through this area. He named the place after himself, John Beaumont Station (later known as Beaumont). The first store opened at this location in 1912 and continued until it closed its doors in 1951 due to health problems caused by cigarettes being smoked there. In 1922, local rancher James Aiken donated land near present-day Gatewood Drive and Old San Antonio Road for a school district which would eventually become Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD). That same year, FWISD built their first schoolhouse on what are now LNU Boulevard and Giddings Street; that building still stands today as Hewitt Intermediate School #2! In 1949, FWISD merged with Dallas Independent School District to form Arlington ISD which currently operates Hewitt High School! In 1957,FWISD built their much-needed second high school - Hewitt Junior Senior High School - which served students from grades 9-12 until it was demolished in 1984 following a fire that destroyed most of the town center! Today only portions of original buildings remain standing: LNU Boulevard between Giddings Street and Old San Antonio Road; NW corner ofNW corner ofNW corner ofGV Blvd.; SW corner ofSW corner ofEW Corner Ave., while SW side ofLNU Boulevard still contains part of HWJHS' 1955 construction! There have been several attempts over the years to bring back life to downtown Hewitt including: reconfiguring Hwy 56 so traffic circles around old highschool site instead converting parts into apartments/condos or even just2000 sq ft open living space inside existing buildings!!! no one has ever managed to do anything about it :(
