The city has also been home to Hewitt Stadium since it opened in 1960; now known as AT&T Stadium. Hewitt played host to both the 1987 NCAA Men's Division II Basketball Tournament semifinal game between Wichita State University and Oral Roberts University –the only meeting between these schools that did not result in a championship game – as well as two editions of Forbes' Top 100 Small Towns list (1994 & 1998). In addition, Hewitt hosted one edition of "The Price Is Right" on CBS from 1984 until 1990 before moving over to ABC for their current incarnation starting with Season 20 episodes released on October 14th 2016 thru 2020

Hewitt, Texas is a small city in Johnson County, Texas, located on the banks of the Brazos River. Hewitt was founded in 1881 by John A. Hewitt and named for him. The population was 927 at the 2010 census. The first settlers in what is now Hewitt were Methodists from North Carolina who arrived in 1851. They built a log cabin on the east bank of the Brazos River and called it "Hewitt." In 1881, John A. Hewitt established a cotton plantation here and named his home "Hewitt" after himself. By 1900, the population of Hewitt had grown to 1,300 people and it became an important railroad town with its own branch line running through it from Wichita Falls to Fort Worth. The local textile mills closed during World War II but reopened again during the Korean War as military supply centers for troops on both sides of that conflict. In 1957, Hewitt voted to become an unincorporated community within Johnson County under state law which granted residents such autonomy over their local government units. As a result of this vote, much of downtown business district including its lunchroom and library buildings were destroyed by fire when hoses used to fight a major oil pipeline fire overflowed into them while firefighters extinguished another smaller blaze nearby; those buildings have since been restored and are now part of the county courthouse complex known as The Commons. Today's economy base largely consists of light industrial manufacturing along with some agriculture (mainly corn) production and service provision; however, many businesses have closed or relocated since 2000 due to global economic recession conditions throughout most Western nations including Texas'. The remaining downtown district has undergone extensive redevelopment creating new restaurants/bars/cafés/other retail businesses as well as renovated historic buildings dating back to early 1800s that are now being used for professional offices/ Bed & Breakfasts etc.; making Hewit one OF THE LAST SMALL CITIES IN TEXAS TO REFLECTING ITS INDUSTRY BASE WITH MODERN BUSINESSES LOCATED THERE!
Hewitt, Texas was founded on March 6, 1836 by John C. Smith and his wife Rebecca. The town was named after Hewitt Creek, located in present-day Bowie County. The first post office in Hewitt was established on December 15, 1837. At its peak, the population of Hewitt was approximately 200 residents. By 1840, the population had decreased to 10 residents and by 1845 it had decreased to 5 residents. In 1850, the population of Hewitt increased to 20 residents and by 1855 it had increased to 30 residents. On January 1, 1861, the town incorporated as a city under the name of Austin.
