Hewitt is a small town in Williamson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,894 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. Hewitt is home to the Longhorn Stadium and the Texas Rangers baseball team. The local paper for Hewitt is The Herald-News. The first settlers in what would become Hewitt were farmers who arrived in 1836 from Kentucky. They named their land "Hewitt" after Johnathon HewITT, an early settler in what would be Williamson County. By 1839, there were seven families living in Hewitt and three churches had been built: one Congregational and two Baptist. In 1840, a group of forty men led by James HUGHES traveled to Wichita Falls to buy corn from Mexican traders and found that they could not get it as far as they wanted because of high prices paid by them for goods brought back into Mexico. In 1841, the Houston Post ran an advertisement for a post office in Williamson County with headquarters at "Hewitt". After two years of effort by Jedediah HOUSTON and Nathan WEBB (the postmaster), on November 15th, 1843, the first mail was sent from "Hewit" toHouston via wagon road using four horses pulling a cart carrying 5 lbs (2 kg) of mail each way In 1865 when Brazoria County was created from parts of Harris and Travis Countiesanchored railroads running through Tyler's cotton fields allowed cattle ranchers access to new markets outside Austin so by 1870 more than fifty farms near Tyler had cotton plantations supplying Texan consumers east of San Antonio In 1904 when HHattedson Electric Light Company was founded providing service for lights within town limits it became known as "The Cotton Club" because all streets leading into town were lined with white cottages giving residents close proximity to electric lights while working or playing outdoors

Hewitt is a small town located in Kerr County, Texas, United States. Hewitt was founded in 1879 by Captain James Hewitt and his wife, Elizabeth. The first post office was established in 1881, and the name of the town was changed to Hewitt in 1892. In 1907, the Hewitt-Timmons School District was formed from parts of three other local districts. The Hewitt-Timmons School District has been served by the same school system since it was created. In 1915, the United States Post Office moved from its original location at corner of Third Street and Main Avenue to its current location on Old Highway 183 about two miles south of Hewitt. As a result of this move, Hewitt became an incorporated village with full voting rights. At that time, it had a population of just over 100 residents. The village ceased to exist as an administrative entity after 1945 when all Kerr County villages were dissolved into larger townships. The only remaining structure from Hewitt's early days is Captain James HewITT House which still stands today on Spring Street near the edge of town limits. It is a one-story wood frame house with a gabled roof and clapboard siding that dates back to 1886 when Captain James Hibbert bought it from Drury Lumber Company for $560 dollars cash plus 10% interest payable annually until sold or destroyed by fire or natural disaster. Hibbert used it as his home until he died in 1916 at age 73 years old while living at 4222 Elm Street in Dallas TX (now known as Fair Park). Mrs Hibbert continued to live there until her death also in 1916 at age 73 years old while living with her father Mr Hibbert who continued to live there until his death also in 1916 at age 73 years old while living with their daughters Mrs Alice Hibbert (1917 -present) and Mrs Loretta Hibbert (1921 - present). Captains James Hutton (1879-1916), John Dickson (1920-1927), Emmet Witherspoon (1928 - 1931) lived there during those early decades however no children were born within that timeframe so they reverted back to their maiden names upon marriage ie Hutton/Dickson/Witherspoon=Hawkins/Tompson

Houston and James Fenton as a small military outpost on the banks of the Trinity River. The name may derive from an Anglo-Saxon word meaning "humble place." It was incorporated as a town in 1907.
