Henderson, Texas is a small town in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The population was 12,859 at the 2010 census. It is located on Henderson Road, about 18 miles south of downtown Dallas and 8 miles east of Fort Worth. The town was founded in 1912 by men from North Dakota who were looking for land to settle after their state's creation. Henderson became an agricultural center with a large wheat crop and cattle ranching businesses until the early 1960s when oil exploration began in the area and the industry took over much of Henderson's economy. Today, most residents are employed in service industries such as health care or education. The name "Henderson" comes from John Henton, an early settler who first landed property here in 1912. Henderson post office opened in 1913 and remained open until it was discontinued in 1964 due to lack of mail volume. The community has been called various names throughout its history including: Indianola, Dutchman's Rest, Bend Creek Settlement, Dawsonville, and Valley City before settling on its current name which it selected for its location – just south of Fort Worth on Henderson Road – on account of its strategic position between two major highways (I-10 to the north and I-35 to the south). Today there are few reminders that Henderson once had a significant impact on local life; most notable are remnants of one of fortuitous events that led to its establishment: when floods destroyed nearby Wichita Falls during a severe drought in 1916 (a pattern repeated often downstream across Willis County), parts of what is now Henderson were able to survive because they were built uponraised ground that would not be flooded again for many years. Beneath Interstate 20 lies another story: while much has changed within city limits since then (e.g.,Lawrence High School campus moved outragesouthwestward along I-20), partofHenderson remains markedly different even today: portionsofthetownthatwereoncevillageshave become sprawling subdivisions devoted principallytoresidentialhousing development;andahalfdozen existing churches remain scattered amonghundredsofnewbuildingsappearingonthe scene around town center these days as well."

Henderson, Texas is a small town located in Ford County, Texas. The population was 549 at the 2010 census. Henderson's ZIP code 77536 has a population of 914 as of the 2000 census. Henderson is named after James Henderson, who donated land to make the town possible. The first people to live in Henderson were farmers and their families who arrived around 1855. In 1865, Daniel Boone traveled through Ford County on his way to Little Rock, Arkansas and stopped at Henderson Creek for lunch before continuing on his journey. The first post office was established in Henderson in 1876. According to the 2010 United States Census, there are 549 people living in Henderson Township (of which 154 are water). The rest of the township is made up of sections of rural Rural Roads 1-4 that connect with U.S.-Highway 6 northbound and Agricultural Roads 3-7 southbound. Henderson was founded by James Henderson when he donated land for it in 1885. He is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery near his home town of Vernon Junction where he died on October 2, 1914 at the age of 82 years old. A local radio station began broadcasting from an antenna atop McCullough Tower overlooking downtown on November 4, 1951 which continues today as KFDK Radio Station 105 FM . On December 17th 1959 KFDM-LP changed its call sign to " WDKR" following a contest won by KDKR's morning personality Don Briggs over other Kansas City broadcasters that year.. WDKR simulcasted WOR Radio until May 12th 1984 when WDKR went digital and changed its call sign to "KDKR".
