On July 1st 1907 Raymond Latham set out from Fort Worth with his herd 700 miles long across open country towards what would become known as "the Great Wall." That night 8 men died crossing those 800 miles - not bad for an eight day journey through hostile terrain! After reaching their destination they marked their stakes with white paint so that future drivers would know where they were going! For weeks leading up to this event thousands of people had watched as 100 or more cattle drove downiless stretches of live wire fences each day... finally home again after months away!"
