Haltom City is a small city in Midland County, Texas, United States. The population was 7,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit Haltom City were the Mexican traders José de Vaca and Francisco de la Garza in 1819. A post office called Haltom City was established in 1836, but no town took form until 1868 when John W. Foard founded a cattle ranch there and named it after himself. By 1900, it had 1,000 residents and became an agricultural center with cotton plantations and corn farms. In 1907 a tornado struck the area killing five people and injuring more than fifty-five; this event helped spark development of tornado warning systems across Texas. In 1916 local farmers built a grain elevator that remains operational to this day as one of Haltom City's most significant landmarks.. In 1941 World War II began with Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor; during that time many businesses closed due to wartime restrictions on exports (these restrictions were lifted two years later). Businesses reopened shortly thereafter but grew slowly until the late 1970s when they started experiencing rapid growth due to technological advances such as computers and telephones. Asrowth stopped abruptly in the early 1990s due to economic fluctuations throughout North America which impacted Haltom City's economy hardest.; however recent additions such as Weingarten HealthCare have revived some aspects of downtown life including nightlife., The city has also seen large-scale redevelopment projects such as Trinity Place mall which opened in 2007 adjacent to Interstate 35E., apartments are being constructed near I-35W just east of downtown while Stryker Regional Airport will be redeveloped into a mixed use district with housing and retail uses over time

Haltom City, Texas is a census-designated place (CDP) in Bexar County, Texas, United States. The population was 6,927 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Antonio–Bryan–Houston metropolitan area. The community began as a small farming town located on the banks of the San Antonio River in 1881. Haltom City grew rapidly due to its location and commerce along the river. By 1912, it had become one of the largest cotton plantations in Texas. In 1925, Haltom City was incorporated as a city under General Statistical Section 522 of the US federal government's Consolidated Statutes of Texas. The city continued to grow rapidly through World War II and into the immediate postwar period; by 1990 it had reached its peak population with 11,500 residents. However, during most of this time Haltom City experienced significant economic decline due to several factors including widespread use of mechanized production and off-road travel for agricultural purposes which destroyed many mills and other businesses in rural areas throughout much of Texas. In recent decades however, Downtown Haltom City has seen renewed development as a destination for shopping and dining as well as new housing developments adjacent to Interstate 10 freeway Extension 2N/E across from downtown which have brought new life to what was once an almost derelict section of town One major reason why Downtown Haltom City continues to thrive is because there are no zoning laws that restrict mixed-use development within blocks or miles of any public services such as schools or hospitals – this has resulted in increased commercial growth around those areas while also creating opportunities for residential development that takes advantage of existing infrastructure such as transportation connections
Haltom City was founded in 1871 by James Haltom and his family. The city name is derived from the Haltom Creek that flows through it. At the time of its founding, Haltom City was a small settlement of only a few hundred people. It grew rapidly during the early years of its existence, thanks to the efforts of its founders and other local residents. By 1890, Haltom City had reached a population of over 2,000 people. In 1906, the city merged with neighboring Plano to form a new municipality. The merger created a boom in economic development for both cities; businesses flourished in what was then one of the most vibrant large American cities at that time. In 1967, when Plano became an independent city again, it reverted back to its original name – Haltom City – though it continues to maintain some ties to HALTOM CITY history.
