The first handgun case in Haltom City occurred on March 1, 1876. That particular firearm was purchased by John Atherton from Wm Blythe at auction at the courthouse steps. Atherton used this rifle to shoot three rounds off a hammerlock target at a public exhibition held by The Gun Club’s president, Jno Kappespringer Jr.. Although shot cleanly through both barrels, this weapon did notqualify it for registration with TheGunClub as it lacked serial number or other important markings characteristic of most handguns then being manufactured (i.e., weights and dimensions). On October 31st, 1886 an individual named Harry Laughlin made an unsuccessful attempt to purchase two pistols from James Purdy at sale at The Gun Club’s rear entrance (this location later became known as “The Pistol House”). Laughlin claimed he had been injured while working on his ranch outside town and needed these pistols to protect himself from outlaws roaming the area seeking revenge on his behalf! Unfortunately for Laughlin, Purdy refused to sell him any pistols without first dealing with authorities about any possible legal issues involved in such transactions! On January 22nd 1907, Walter Fenton attempted unsuccessfully to purchase two handguns from Cephus Beauregard at sale at The Pistol House located across Frome Street from city hall (later known as “Beauregard” Alley). Once again Laughlin claimed he had been injured while working on his ranch outside town – this time resulting in Beauregard being forced to sell him just one pistol instead! In 1916 Elisha Goodwin attempted unsuccessfully twice purchasing handguns from Charles Weems during sale period hosted by Weems & Company located inside Old Post Office building south sideof Main Street (later known as “Gordons Arms Shop”). Goodwin stated that he had been hurt when someone threw a rock through his window while he was home late one evening; consequently unable-to-find-his-gunsmithing shop nearby could not fabricate suitable triggers or chokes suitable enough for his guns! Haltom City is a small city in Medina County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,877 at the 2010 census. Haltom City is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. It is named after General John A. Haltom and his regiment who fought in the Mexican-American War and were stationed there for three years from 1846 to 1848. The first residents of what would become Haltom City were farmers and their families who started settling there in 1881. By 1907, over 60% of its population had arrived from out of state or Mexico as refugees during the American Civil War. In 1932, Mayor Harry Carver requested that the name be changed to honor General John A. Haltom because he felt that it was too soon for another local namesake to come up with something more appropriate (Carver had also given naming rights to Waco’s Baylor University). The new name stuck until 1982 when Medina County moved its government from downtown Haltom City to a new facility just east of town – which led to suggestions for changing the name again (including moving it to Cedar Park or Tomball). In 1992, Houston voters passed an ordinance asking for a change in the name – but no change happened until 2006 when county commissioners voted 3-0 in favor of keeping Haltom City's original name while making changes including adding an element “the” (hailing from neighboring Parker) into both namesakes’ initial letters so as not to conflict with other cities with similar nicknames such as Garland or Richardson north of Dallas/Fort Worth Airport. During World War II, some 86% of all food supplies brought into Texas by civilians came through Haltom City; this helped make it one of America’s largest food production centers outside California before hostilities halted those exports in 1945. The city remains one of busiest trade center within Medina County today due largely to its location adjacent Interstate 40 and access thereto via I-635 making it easily accessible by everyone living within commuting distance without having any need for special permits or licenses - something not always true many other communities located adjacent I-40 corridors enjoy today (e.g., Farmers Branch & McKinney). After World War II ended most civilian production ceased here altogether; however general warehouse activities continued on through 1967 when retailing operations shifted exclusively from downtown into what became known as Terminal B situated next door on FM 1960 south of I-30 exit 36B - continuing until 2001 when terminal building demolition began contemporaneously with my colleaguing shopping mall redevelopment project called Lady Bird Lake Place which displaced most all commercial activity from Terminal B except occasional truck stops serving agricultural productsgenerated by open land leased by mall developers near Loop 610 interchange providing access only thru ramps leading onto Loop 610A/I-30 while bypassing Terminal B entirely
Haltom City was founded in 1879 by James W. Haltom and his family. The city became a railroad town, with the Midland Railway serving as its primary artery. In 1907, the city voted to become an incorporated municipality. A year later, it annexed the neighboring town of La Salle.
