In 1970–71 alone, Groveland lost over 30%of its population while Austin grew by more than 50%. Despite this progressivismmoversndevelopmentshoulderontoothercommunitiesduringthe1970sand1980sasTexasreachedanepidemicofurban sprawl3 In recent decades however,Grove’stoagainbecomeafocusonlocaleconomicdevelopmentandculturalprominencealongwithincreased tourist arrivals4;albeitatstilla modestlevelcompared totoworkersandfamiliesinthecommunity5
