The first soft gun case history in Groves, Texas was the purchase of a Winchester rifle by John W. Grove in 1895. The Groves family had come to Groves from New York City and were farmers. They started a grocery store on the corner of Elm and Hogan Streets in Groves and soon became well-known for their grocery items and firearms. In 1903, John W. Grove married Mary Jane Haggerty and they moved to San Angelo, TX where he continued to run his grocery store until his death in 1916. TheGrove's children ran the business until it merged with Sam's Club in 1978. In 1908, Augustus Fenton purchased a Winchester rifle from John W. Grove Sr.'s grandson (John W.) He continued to own the gun until it was traded into the hands of Jimmy Dean at an auction held at Dallas County Fairgrounds on November 3rd, 1924. Today almost every building on Houston Bayou began life as part of an early small town calledBrowning Settlement which Included partsofwhat are now SpringtownHouston TX & Point BreezeHouston TX] In 1886 Jock Mahony established himself as one of Texas’ leading cattle ranchers by purchasing 640 acres east sideof Richmond Road just south Of FM 1451 about 5 miles west Of IH 35 [Now part Of Tomball TX]. About 1911 Mahony sold interestin Rancho Gallardo [still located easterly past FM 1960]To Edmond Muhlenberg who lived Thereuntilhis deathIn 1937 rancho passed thru several hands before becoming partOfAnheuser Busch Brewery chain !!! Groves is a town in Collin County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,871 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. Groves began as an agricultural community in 1881 by Major James A. Groves and his family on land bought from the Comanche people near present-day Springdale. In 1902, Groves post office was established and operated until it merged with Austin in 1907. Groves grew rapidly due to its location on the Old San Antonio Trail, which connected Dallas and Houston. The early residents were farmers who raised beef, pork, chickens, eggs, milk cows and corn; they developed a small town atmosphere by keeping their homes close to their fields and churches. The first school opened in 1903; additions were made to the high school (now University High School) in 1911 and 1925; grove Elementary School opened in 1923. Road construction during World War II increased business for local merchants; after the war many businesses closed but new ones sprang up such as grocery stores (Piney Hops), lumberyards (Dundee Lumber Co.), welding concerns (Welding Supply & Mfg., Inc.) and paint companies (American Can Corp.). In 1957 The Lone Star Brewing Company relocated from Prohibition-era Corpus Christi to grove after being denied permission to open in downtown Austin because of city zoning regulations that prohibited breweries at that time within walking distance of universities or other commercial districts. After Lone Star Brewery's closure several years later another brewery - Sam Adams Brewery - moved into what is now known as The Groveertooth Shopping Center adjacent to Interstate 35W south of IH 35W/Upper Loop Rd./Sam Adams Rd.;[8] this site became known as "The Grove" after American Can Corp.'s building was demolished.[9] In 1984 United Grain Growers Cooperative became one of five cooperative grain distributors serving all Texas counties with 2 million acres under cultivation; United Grain Growers Cooperative broadened its distribution into Oklahoma City through acquisition of Texaco agribusiness operations there including Big Thicket Farms produce market located at 8th Street NW and Constitution Avenue NW between Union Station SW and National Harbor SW; United Grain Growers Cooperative continued purchasing Texaco products until 2000 when deregulation led some pesticide sales arrangements between cooperatives to end although some products still are sold through other cooperative members' stores statewide today including those owned by Sam Adams Brewery

Groves is a small town in Cameron County, Texas, United States. The population was 657 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. The Groves post office was established on October 1, 1894, and served until it closed on July 25, 1949. The first settler in what would become Groves was John Witherspoon who arrived in 1881 from Illinois. Witherspoon built a cabin near what is now the corner of Seventh Street and Park Avenue. In 1893 he married Eliza Hance and they took up residence on what would be their farm north of present-day Groves. In 1905, Witherspoon donated an acre (0.40 km²) to the town for a public school district which became the grove School District No. 5 after annexation by other towns within the new city limits of Dallas in 1907-08; this donation remains as one of the largest single sources of financial support for Grove's schools to this day. A post office called "Groves" was established at this location on October 1, 1894., and served until it closed on July 25, 1949; it was replaced by the current post office which opened on August 29th 1959 under name "Cameron". The first mail carrier for Groves was Mr James Sayers who traveled between Mesquite and Cameron Springs carrying mail across country until his retirement in 1951! In 1845, James Groves was born in the town of Grovetown, Texas. He worked as a hombre on a farm and later became a independent cattle rancher. In 1887, Groves donated land to the city of Austin to make way for its new public library. The Groves family continued to donate land to the city until their death in 1951.
