The Groves, Texas land grant was given to John Groves in 1836. The tract of land included a part of present-day Austin, Texas. On December 12, 1836 Congress awarded him a land grant along with 640 others for service during that war - one sixth less than what President James Kossuth had been promised before hostilities started.
