The store became known for selling firearms and ammunition to hunters and other shooters. In 1951, John Groves passed away and his son, Harry Groves, took over the store. Harry Groves continued to sell firearms until he died in 1984. The store then passed down through the generations until it was sold to a group of businessmen in 2002. They kept the name but changed the management so that all products were imported from Europe instead of America. As part of their business strategy, they began stocking more English-made firearms than American-made firearms. In 2006, they rebranded themselves as "Gun mags." The Gun mags store has been around since 1881 and has been a mainstay inGrove's economy ever since. The company has played an important role in helping to keep guns accessible to Texans and has helped make it one of the most popular places to buy firearms in this state. Groves is a small town in Cooke County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,836 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in Groves were white Texans and Comanches who traded with the area for goods and animals. A post office was established in 1881, and by 1907 the community had grown to include 166 residents. There was no railroad service here until 1912 when the Tyler-Groves Railway was built from Tyler to Groves. The First World War brought many new settlers to Groves including men from New York City and Philadelphia who built homes on nearby farms while their families fought overseas. After the war, farmers continued to move into Groves as industry mushroomed in Wichita Falls and other towns near Cooke County's oilfields. In 1925, cattleman Fenton Price opened Price Cattle Ranch which became one of Texas' largest ranching operations; it still operates today. In 1941, during World War II Groves became an assembly plant for B-29s being produced by Boeing Air Force Base at Wichita Falls Airport (now Goodrich Airport). With its large industrial base nearby, Grooves saw heavy military use throughout the war with factories producing everything from tanks and artillery pieces to ammunition and fighter planes. After the war ended, GrOvesses gradually lost its manufacturing jobs but kept pace with changes in technology due largely to Boeing's investment there. In 2000 Ford Motor Company closed its Wichita Falls Assembly Plant but left behind a legacy of technological innovation that continues today at Intel Core Processors Headquarters adjacent to Interstate 35E close to Interstate 20 (I-20/Uptown) The economic recession of 2007 led businesses such as Ford Motor Company closures across rural America but predictions of renewed growth around Moorestown AFB led then Congressman Tom Delay (R-TX)to revive efforts within his district NR 9 & US 281 corridor leading up I-35E where he has since located efforts focused on developing Electric Vehicle Manufacturing Facility

Groves, Texas is a town located in Eastland County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,858 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Groves post office was established in 1875. The first store on Elm Street was built by Elisha Nicholson in 1876 and it remained in operation until 1915. A new store was built on Elm Street in 1917 by Wm. Hines and it remained in operation until 1984. In 1951, the chicken processing plant opened near what is now Groves Elementary School. This plant operated until 1991 when it closed because of competition from other poultry plants around the country. In 1998, Groves High School constructed a $2 million gymnasium which replaced the original high school building that had been used for decades as a Methodist church. The new gymnasium has an American Flag floor plan with two levels and includes a weight room, an indoor track/field area with bleachers for 350 students (and larger than any other high school in Eastland County), locker rooms and administrative offices of Eastland County government including courtrooms and an auditorium/theater complex that can seat up to 4500 people? In addition to its use as a high school Gymnasium, Grove also houses the Griffs football team?s practice fields.? In 2004-2005 Groves received national attention after 5-year old Tyler Clementi became famous after his cyberbullying ordeal during 3rd grade class at Harrisonburg Township Middle School.? After being ridiculed online for months by his classmates (including one who called him "faggot" on social media) Clementi came forward to tell his story.? He won public support from then US Senator John Kerry who said he would call upon President George Bush to investigate Tyler Clementi’s bullying.? After years of planning by local officials and volunteers?, the 100th anniversary celebration of Groves occurred on September 11th-13th 2006.? A number of events were held throughout 2006 including parades honoring local veterans; concerts featuring locally popular band “The Unseen”; ?a fundraising drive benefiting eastland county emergency services; ?a cookout & picnic sponsored by grove elementary school staff.; ?an art show fundraiser benefiting Stonington Hospital Nursery; ???a variety of food vendors were scheduled throughout 2006.?
