One of the first gun cleaning companies in Groves was John Hogg’s Gun Shop, opened in 1887. Over time, other companies were founded including The Armory Company (1911), The Pistolero Bros. (1914), and John Lewis & Sons (1918). Today, most gun owners in Groves either maintain their own firearms or find someone to do it for them. The guns here are well-maintained with only the slightest indication that they have not been used recently. Groves is a city in Williamson County, Texas, United States. The population was 10,567 at the 2010 census. The climate in Groves is humid continental with significant rainfall throughout the year. The first settlers in the area that would become Groves were Methodist missionaries who arrived in 1845. They named the land for General James Hogg (1784-1850), an Irish general who had fought against Mexican forces during the Mexican–American War and also served as a commander of British troops during the Napoleonic Wars. General Hogg was later buried at Fort Worth's Arlington Cemetery. The first store opened in Groves on October 15, 1865 by J.C. Hathaway & Sons Auctioneers and Mercersmiths Merchants Association No. 1 of Dallas/Fort Worth and closed on May 4, 1888 due to fire set by Episcopalian minister Ayscough Killen while he performed services thereon according to some sources In 1886, John Pemberton bought 2 acres of land east of present day Grove Street from Denton Co-operative Creamery for $100 cash plus 5% interest per year until it could be sold or he could mortgage it to pay off his investment On November 5th 1886 Pemberton built a Store and House on what is now Elm Street near Houston Road This Store became known as "Pemberton's Dairy" which still exists today . In 1907 Mr. Waddell assumed ownership of Pemberton's Dairy after his father passed away mowing lawns for Mrs Waddell across Houston Road from their old home

In 1881, J.W. Groves purchased a large tract of land in what is now Groves, Texas from the Humble cattle company. The Groves ranch stretched from east to west for over 120 miles and was the largest land purchase ever made in Texas. The Groves family had started out as farmers in Colfax County, Kentucky, and their ranching skills were quickly put to use on their new property. Over time, the Groves family became one of the most influential figures intxland due to their ownership of large tracts of land and their influence on local politics and society. The original Groves ranch house was built in 1882-1883 by John W. Grubb. It is still standing and is a popular tourist destination today. TheGrove's other Ranch buildings include: A Barn (1882), A Cattle House (1884), A Grain Mill ( 1886), A Dog Pound (1892). In 1907, J.W."W" Grubb died leaving his estate to his son Jethro Grubb Jr., who continued to run the ranch until his death in 1948. Today there are three main branches of the Grubbs family tree: The Grubbs brothers - James & John; RufusGrubb - Jr., Donnie & Larry; and JasperGrubb - III, all living within walking distance of each other at various locations around town or outside on their farmsteads situated near acreage that continues down into southern Hutchinson County currently under permit from Trinity Conservation District for multiple uses including agriculture but with potential development possibilities including commercial/residential/hospitality also existing adjacent to residential Hollis Rd off FM 620 between I-35W & FM 381) Today’s grove contains more than 6 million acres located primarily within south central TX along I-35W flanked by rural Hutchinson County while portions extend into neighboring counties such as eastern Grimes County across FM 620 at Hollis Road South then northeast into Nolan County along US 277 just south side Interstate 35E
The Groves family resided in the town of Groves, Texas from 1881 to 1951. In 1901, they moved to the city of Dallas and then to Groves in 1951. The Groves family is buried in Arlington Cemetery.
