In 1974 Grove's third high school graduated its first class with a total enrollment of 516 students; there were no secondary schools in Williamson County then either. Today Grove has four high schools: two elementary/elementary schools (Graceville Elementary School and Good Shepherd Intermediate School), one middle school (Grove Middle School), and one comprehensive/junior college (Valero Community College). The community has played an important role within the local economy by providing various services such as law enforcement, education, health care, retail sales etc.; it also manufactures some items such as door handles and window blinds which are sold throughout the United States. Groves' citizens have also played significant roles within state politics by being elected to both legislative bodies (the Texas House of Representatives from 2005-2015) and executive branches (the Governor since 2015).
