Grapevine is a small town in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,851 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Corpus Christi-Fort Worth Metropolitan Statistical Area. The early settlers in Grapevine were incidental to development of Hudspeth County and its agricultural economy. The first white settler in what is now Grapevine was John Hargrave, who arrived on a horseback from England in 1847. He bought land southeast of present-day Grapevine and built his house near present day White Sands Lake. In 1857, David Aiken founded the first post office in Hudspeth County at what is now South Harrison Street in downtown Grapevine. In 1865, Colonel George Easley established an irrigation district that included much of today's area within Grapevine limits. The first store on Main Street opened in 1949, when The Grapes grocery store became the first commercial establishment located within incorporated boundaries of today's city limits
