In 1924, P Burchard became the owner of Glenn Heights Store Company and reopened all of his stores under one banner that year - The Glen Heights Store Company (renamed again in 1951). He served as its president for forty years until his death in 1980. During that time period, he also founded two churches - First Baptist Church (founded in 1927) and Second Baptist Church (founded in 1952). In 1951, Mrs L Willis purchased a piece of land along the riverbank from Mrs P Burchard which she then turned into an open air shopping mall with three levels including a basement where she conducted business from her home while also entertaining customers with live music nightly during summer nights.
