Glenn Heights is a small town in northern Williamson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The Glenn Heights School District encompasses most of the town and has a population of 711 students in grades 3-12 as of September 2009. The community was founded by three brothers in 1892: John G. Glenn, who died in service in World War I; his brother George W. Glenn; and their father, James A. Glenn. In 1912, when it became part of Park Row Township, the Glen Heights post office opened with four employees and mail delivery to all residents on Horseback Road (now FM 1488). In 1925, when Park Row Township was dissolved and its land divided among counties, Glenn Heights became one of five townships within Williamson County newly formed from portions of Dallas County. The other townships were Irvington (population 476 at the time), Mesquite (population 602 at the time), Carrollton (population 568 at the time), Farmers Branch (population 551 at the time), and Cedar Hill (population 403 at the time). At first, development was slow due to lack of credit and available land. However, over time industry got moving with new mills coming into town such as White Sands Paper Mills which built a paper mill complex northwest of town in 1951 that still exists today followed by Toyotas Automotive Parts Corporation which built a manufacturing plant east off US 90 near Garden Hills Drive in 1984 which closed down after 25 years producing cars primarily for Toyota but also some toyota trucks etc., eventually leading to low demand for production vehicles around 2004 which caused company closure while assets were sold off to various companies including Pawnbrokers Inc., then Landmark Realty Trust before being donated to Baylor University's Center for American History Campus where it currently stands as an exhibit

Today, Glenn Heights is largely forgotten within its own borders but it still retains some of its iconic features - such as the historical courthouse which continues to be used today as a law enforcement office.
