In the early 1800s, Glenn Heights was a small farming community in Texas. It was located on the banks of the San Antonio River. The town developed around a mill that operated until 1857. In that year, Texan General Sam Houston mounted an attack against Mexican forces and captured Mexico City. This event led to a revolution in Mexico and a new government founded by Emperor Charles III. After Houston's defeat at San Jacinto, Mexican troops withdrew from Texas and Glenn Heights became part of the new Republic of Texas.
Glenn Heights is a small town in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. It is located on the banks of the Rio Grande, about 25 miles east of Brownsville and 75 miles west of Mexico City. The population was 1,431 at the 2010 census. The Glenn Heights post office was established on July 14, 1898, by J.D. Glenn and his brother-in-law Lewis Fenton. The Glenn family had come to Texas from New York in 1881. They built a log cabin near what is now Glenview Avenue in Glenn Heights and named it after their home country, Scotland (the original name). In 1904, Mr. Glenn started a grocery store on Prairie Road which became one of the leading businesses in town. In 1916 he sold his grocery store to James Cavanaugh and moved to his present location at 5th Street and Prairie Road where he continued running the business until his death in 1951. He was buried at Glenview Cemetery . The first school in Glenn Heights was a one room schoolhouse installed by Mrs. Hildebrandt Miller in 1908 . It burned down but was rebuilt with additions over time including classrooms, an auditorium, gymnasium and multiplex movie theater which opened on October 17, 1960 . The current school building was erected in 1964 by Mrs. Martha Ritchie Connell as part of a larger project to improve education opportunities for all residents of Glen Heights A post office called Highland opened on July 14, 1898 , within minutes of each other at 2nd Street & Willow Grove Ave., also within minutes of each other (later renamed Glenview Avenue ). On November 15 1920 , Ethel Bower Post Office opened at 6th & Elm Streets . Mrs. Bower operated it until her death on December 12 1923 . Her husband John operated it until his retirement in 1966 On January 3 1984 , Lila Hernandez became the first female postmaster when she took over from Mrs.'Bower Mrs.-Martha Ritchie Connell founded 'Glenmark Christian School' which served students grades Pre K thru 8th grade from 1954 until its closure during Hurricane Rita's storm surge damageJuly 28 2007 due to lack of fundsOctober 1 2007 due to lack of insurance

Glenn Heights is a town in Johnson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,870 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. Glenn Heights is named after General Glenn Ford and his Regiment of volunteers who fought in the Mexican-American War and Battle of San Jacinto. The first permanent settler in Glenn Heights was John Sibley who built a cabin on what is now Farm Road 9 near present-day Glen Park Elementary School in 1851. Sibley's son, James Sibley, also founded Glenn Heights Academy which still exists today as one of the largest public schools in Johnson County. In 1865, General William Tarrant laid out an agricultural township called "Glenn Heights" to be used by cattlemen from nearby Lamar and Williamson counties for grazing purposes only. The town grid was set up around this time with streets running east-west and north-south. In 1868, George Aiken opened a wagon shop on Main Street which became the nucleus for many local businesses over the years including Wagon Works BBQ & Grill (now known as Gringo’s), Aiken’s Hardware Store (later Sprinkle’s Hardware), Henson Drugstore (later Peacock Pharmacy), Rice’s grocery store (now known as Old Country Grocery) and several other small stores before it closed in 1984 due to lack of business competition In 1896, general strike participants from surrounding towns marched through Glenn Heights to demand better wages from their employers south of Interstate 35W while supplies continued arrivingvia trains at both Lamar and Jackpot Junction railroad stations just outside town limits
Glenn Heights was founded in 1881 by early Texas pioneers, John Glenn and his wife Anna. The community grew rapidly, with a school, grocery store, post office, and three churches soon established. By 1902 the population had reached 1,500 people. In 1909 Glenn Heights was renamed to honor U.S. President William McKinley. In 1925 the community consolidated with nearby Templeton to form the new Glenn Heights-Templeton Township Municipality. The municipality continued to grow until it reached its peak in 1970 when it had a population of over 10,000 people.
