Glenn Heights is a small town in Tomball County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census. Glenn Heights is part of the Tomball Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is located in the central area of Tomball County and is bordered to the north by Spring Branch and to the east by Eldorado Hills. To the south it borders Clear Creek Valley. The first people who lived in Glenn Heights were Native Americans. They came from around what is now Oklahoma City and founded a small settlement there about 1836-37. They called their community "Kiowa" because they thought that kiowa (a type of deer) could help them hunt game in this area. Eventually other settlers moved into Glenn Heights as well, most notably James Hartsfield in 1851-1852 and his son John Hartsfield in 1872-1873. These early settlers built homes on what are now Main Street and Friendship Avenue today. In 1893, two men named George Waddell and John Sweeny bought land southeast of Glenn Heights from Will Rogers for $1,000 (). This land became known as Waddell Ranch after these two men purchase it from Rogers. Waddell Ranch was used primarily for cattle farming until 1920 when it was purchased by Frank Kapp who turned it into an open space park with playgrounds, tennis courts, a swimming pool, and a large camping ground which still exists today known as Kapp Park (). In 1971 Kapp donated all of his remaining property within walking distance of his ranch to the city of Tomball for use as part of Glen Heights Park (). Today much of this acreage remains undeveloped., The post office opened at Glen Heights on October 1st, 1888 (). The first postmaster was Mrs . Ethel Mize Ryan (). From 1886 to 1898 there were six mail carriers who service Glen Heights residents: Mrs . Anna Healy (from 1886-1892), Lizzie Beaumont (from 1896-1900), Alice Morse (from 1898-1902), Fannie Hitchcock (from 1902-1910), Nettie Rodgers (from 1910–1920).
