In 1875, Revs George Witherspoon (1823-1900) and Charles Crenshaw (1850-1929) founded Gate City School District No. 5 south of Wimberley on what's now State Highway 6 between Waller County and Hays County on what are now Brushy Creek Road, Old Baldy Road, Orange Blossom Trail and Hillcroft Drive today’s gate city limits bounded by FM 3271 north to US 290 east across Brushy Creek Bridge into Hays County; FM 1435 south to White Sands Boulevard east into Waller County; FM 158 west across Brushy Creek Bridge into Newton County In 1886 a group of businessmen from Wichita Falls traveled to Gatesville on horseback looking for land for a new business center They found only temporary acreage so they organized themselves as a townsite with James Ewart as president JE&W Real Estate Co., Ltd., developers Harry Bowers (1853-1924), William Pugh (1867-1950) & John Fenton(census 1880). By 1890 they had leased an old stagecoach stop called "The Gap" which served as their business center until 1908 when it burned down due to arson then replaced by their current brick building overlooking Brushy Creek On October 12th 1907 Wetherspoon died suddenly aged 82 years after many years illness & feverish activity leading up to it his last days he bequeathed his entire fortune including all his real estate holdings including Gatesvillette (@ $10 million today [2008]) back over $3 million more than he had originally given away Today gatesvillette National Monument protects most or all aspects associated with original site where JE&W company built first brick building around 1889

Finally, during the 13th century AD another inventor named John Dee produced a device known as “drumming stick” which allowed for quick fire shots without having to reloadsweepers continued being developed during this era too – these devices would come into widespread usage during World War 1!
On December 14, 1856, John Brown and two other men ambushed a group of about 25 white people who were traveling in a wagon train through Kansas. The three men killed six people and wounded thirteen others before being shot by the sheriff. Brown was hanged from a tree near Salina, Kansas, on April 4,1859.
Gatesville, Texas was founded in 1879 by Wiley B. Gates and his wife Anna Maria. The town was originally called Westgate until the early 1900s when it became known as Gatesville because of its location on the Western border of Texas. In 1907, Gatesville won the title of "Most Beautiful Place in Texas" from Dallas. The town has been continuously growing since its establishment and currently has a population of over 11,000 residents. The mainstay of Gatesville's economy is agriculture, with crops such as cotton, corn, soybeans, fruits and vegetables being grown throughout the community. Additionally, there are a number of small businesses located in the town that provide services such as grocery stores and restaurants. Some notable landmarks in Gatesville include the Town Hall which was built in 1907 and is still used today as an official government building; Powers Station which was built in 1915 and is still used for agricultural purposes; and Giles Cemetery which is one ofthe oldest cemeteries in Texas.
On January 1, 1847, Gatesville was founded by John and Sarah Gates. The town was named for General James H. Gates, who had been governor of Texas during the Mexican-American War. In 1863, the town became a county seat when it was created from parts of Tyler County. On November 3, 1912, Gatesville incorporated as a city. On February 16, 1915, the city annexed the Town of Brushy Creek which had been located in Webb County since 1872.
