There were 3 targets located here- an American Eagle, a Roman Eagle, and an Indian Head. This allowed people to shoot at various game animals that roamed the area. The targets were removed in 1965 when the river was diverted and new streets were built. In 1984, Target Corporation moved their corporate headquarters from Wichita, Kansas to Garland, Texas. They established a Bowling Alley next door to their Targets locations which continued to be used until 2000 when they closed down due to financial problems. In 2001, tx Shooting Sports Authority (TSA) became involved with Target Corporation and began using their Targets locations as their Headquarters for all shooting sports activities in Garland including Trap & Skeet, Pistol & Shotgun Range meets., Archery Field trips for all ages are offered during open seasons!, Game Room for private events! TSA also operates two other Shooting Locations within walking distance of each other- one being across from Southlake Mall and another just off IH 20W near Frye Road! These two Locations are known as "The Ring" and "The Hill". On July 1st 2013 TTA reopened both facilities following a $10 million renovation project! All Target Corporation Targets still stand today but have been completely renovated with new glass fronts/windscreens, updated signage/decorations, new ranges/targeting platforms etc.. NewTarget has since replaced them as the primary retailer for all calibers throughout Northeast TX!

In 1872, the towns of Haskell and Whitney were merged into Garland as well. In 1907, the towns of Magnolia and Flower Mound were amalgamated into Garland as well. On October 6th 1954, Garner became an independent city with a population of over 50 thousand people
