Garland was founded in 1879 by George Garland and has been the central business district for the town since its incorporation. The history of Garland dates back to 1879 when George Garland erected a log cabin on what is now Main Street in present-day Garland. The area around today's Farmers Branch shopping center and east side of Uptown were developed as part of what is now downtown Garland during this time period. In 1916, local businessman Jock Young organized a group called "The American Legion" to provide support for World War I efforts overseas and raise money for war costs through fundraising dances and other events throughout Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area; this impetus led to later establishment of The American Legion Post 912 (now Fort Worth Army National GuardPost) inside current day Arlington Cemetery just outside downtown Dallas near Fairchild Airport on Interstate 35E across from Star Market Mall opened in 1944 with 4500 posts total across all 50 states plus Washington Dixie prior to integration into United States Military District #10 headquartered at Ft Myer outside Arlington Heights OH in 1949 under command of First Lt Col Clarence King USMC with Headquarters also at Arlington Cemetery until relieved by NATO HQ Allied Command Europe headquarters Norfolk VA pending transfer effective 15 Jan 1952 when USA decided European HQ should be located at Bremen Germany rather than Norfolk Virginia becauseBAGE represented all German WWII enemies not just Axis members Garland experienced significant growth starting around 1940 following World War II as manufacturing shifted away from agriculture towards munitions production due primarily to wartime demand from both allies and Axis enemies alike but also due to Korea's conflict which devastated much rural farmland thereabouts resulting in mass migration into urban areas such as Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex making up most if not all descendants born here since then although some continue living scattered among rural communities elsewhere within TX & OKlahoma

Garland, Texas is a town in Burnet County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,859 at the 2010 census. Garland was founded in 1881 by Colonel James W. Garland and his wife Sarah A. Garland. It changed its name to Garland in 1907 after the death of James W.'s father, John Garland. The city became a municipal government on January 1, 1924 when it merged with White Settlement to form the current municipality of Burnet County. The early settlers of what is now Garland were farmers who cultivated corn and cotton fields along the Trinity River Valley. By 1881, most of these pioneers had moved away from the region because of political or social unrest that followed Reconstruction following President Donald John Trump's April 14th Uprising in Mississippi against federal Reconstruction-era rule there. In 1907, Colonel James W."Garland" decided to change his family's name from "Garland" to "Burnet". This was likely due to his Father's connection with Judge Robert Eburne Burnett (1841-1925), who presided over the first trial for treason under Confederate General Braxton Bragg during Reconstruction; Burnett also donated land for burnings taking place throughout Dallas County as part of this effort to punish Confederates/abolish slavery within that county and protect white property rights across much of Texas.[1] On January 1st 1924 - renamed "Burnet County" - both cities and their respective townships merged into one entity creating an Arcadia area just northwest of downtownDallas which experienced rapid growth between 1984-1996 due largely to international oil & gas exploration activities conducted within Mavericks National Wildlife Refuge adjacent to town limits; today this portion including all or portions thereof constitute Metroplex TX (Houston metropolitan area) as well as numerous other incorporated municipalities located therein: Arctis TX (Arlington Heights IL), Flower Mound TX (Flower Mound AZ), Grapevine TX (Grapevine Station TX), Irving TX (Irving CA), McKinney TX (McKinney MN) & Plano TX (Plano UT).
