The history of the Garland-based magazine industry can be traced back to 1892 when a group of businessmen in Garland formed the Western Gun and Rifle Magazine Company. The company was founded by George W. Garland and his brother, John G. Garland. In 1903, the Western Gun and Rifle Magazine Company became the first magazine company in Texas to be registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The early years of the Garland-based magazine industry were difficult but successful. The company enjoyed rapid growth during World War I due to its marketing abilities and distribution network. During World War II, the company produced munitions for both American and Japanese soldiers. After World War II, however, management decided that magazines were no longer an important part of their business model and sold off their assets in 1951. The current incarnation of the Garland-based magazine industry began to emerge in 1974 when Brazoria County businessman Earle Hirsch created Houston's very first gun magazine store called Pistolero's Guns & Ammo on Elm Street in downtownHouston. From there, Hirsch quickly built up a strong presence within Houston's gun market; eventually becoming one of Houston's most well known firearms dealers as well as one of its most successful entrepreneurs. Over time, Pistolero's Guns & Ammo became one of Houston's most recognizedgun retailers while also developing a nationwide reputation for high quality firearm products and customer service. In 1999, Pistolero’s Guns & Ammo merged with Brownells Inc., which was at that time America’s second largest firearms retailer after WalMart Stores Inc.(WMT) . As part of this merger, pistols would become predominant over magazines as Brownells’ main focus; though pistols still accounted for a significant portion of sales throughout much of 2009/2010%. In recent years however, it has been allegations from some customers that pistols are being substituted for magazines in many transactions on Brady Bunch website - leading some customers to believe thatBrownells may have been selling counterfeit ammunition items directly to consumers through their online commerce platforms(eBay etc.). This issue has led some customers who have purchased legitimate ammunition from other sources(iRifleman etc.)to take their cases against Brownells directly to court should they not be satisfied with what they consider to be unfair trade practices by Brownells

The history of Garland begins with Alexander Garland who settled there around 1848. He was born into a prominent family of Scottish settlers and moved eastward to what is now Hudspeth County when he was just sixteen years old to seek his fortune. After arriving in what is now Garland, he began farming and trading goods with Native Americans before building himself a cabin on a clearing that he named "Garland." By 1850, he had married Jane McConnell and started raising children there himself; they would eventually settle down near present-day Plano and have six more children before she died in 1888 at the age of fifty-four. soon after his wife's death, Alexander decided to move westward into Collin County where he built another cabin which he named "Collin." He continued trading goods with Native Americans until his death at eighty-two years old from cancer two years later; his son George inherited his business interests . Alexander Garland's initial settlement did not result in much success due to lack of access to water or land: only one house was built within five miles of their original Cabin Creek location (today's Collin). Furthermore, since no roads were available through rural areas back then (nor are they today), travelers took long trips over trails leading into present day Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex simply because there wasn't anything else close by! Nevertheless,Garland's brave spirit carried him through these early struggles - together with his wife Jane's support system which included her mother (an accomplished healer) and sisters (both doctors), they managed to keep their home safe and provide food for their kids while making steady progress towards becoming selfsufficient citizens . After twenty years of failed farming ventures throughout collin county (!),garland finally found success when he came upwiththe idea fora cotton gin & mill combo venture called "The Cotton Mills," situated on Big Sandy Creek adjacenttopresentdayGarland heights Mall! With this new opportunity came power & influence within local government; garlands' neighbors quickly became grateful for him because without him things might have gone differently .
