Galena Park is a small, rustic town located in Johnson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. Galena Park is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area. The earliest permanent settler was James Robertson, who purchased land from the Comanche Indians in 1806 and built a cabin on the present site of the park. Robertson's heirs sold the land to General George Crockett in 1829 for $2,000 cash and 400 acres (16 hectares) of land east of Round Rock Lake. In 1836, as part of his efforts to secure Mexicanland grants for American citizens near San Antonio, General Sam Houston granted 640 acres (256 hectares) to John Sweeny and James Robertson for development as Galena Airport. In 1937 there were 553 residents living within a radius of one mile (1 km) of Galena Park Elementary School; by 1980 this had increased to 668 people with an enrollment that included 262 children under 12 years old . A post office called "Galena" was established at Galena Park on April 15, 1872. It remained open until it was discontinued on December 15th 1909 due to lack of customership. A new post office called "Round Rock" opened on February 17th 1910 and continued operation until it also closed on December 15th 1909 due to lack of customership because Galena Park had become too popular for such a small town. New owners decided that Round Rock would be its new name because it sounded more like Austin which they considered their home city proper (the original name Roundrock never caught on). Today round rock remains as the only locally produced term used informally today outside official usage within local government circles about where things stand - similar to how "Galenark" still stands among Texans despite having been dropped from use some time ago by both local officials and many non-Texas residents alike

Businesses soon began marketing tourist destinations such as Lakewood Ranch and Spring Branch inside of national forest boundaries so that people could enjoy nature without leaving their homes
The town of Galena Park, Texas was founded in 1881 by John H. Galena and his wife, Maria. The town was named for the abundance of lead ore that was found near the original location. It thrived during the early years, but declined after Galena Park's incorporation as a municipality in 1901. However, it regained its prosperity during World War II whenGalena Park became an important military base. The post-war years were difficult for the town, however, as a result of its proximity to Houston and other big cities. In the 1970s and 1980s, Galena Park experienced growth thanks to the influx of new residents from out of state and Hispanic immigrants. The population today is about 350 people and it is considered a small-town atmosphere with strong local community spirit.
