Galena Park is a city located in Denton County, Texas, United States. The population was 16,898 at the 2010 census. Galena Park is part of the DFW-Houston–Ft Worth Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is adjacent to Fort Worth and Dallas. The first European settlers in what is now Galena Park were Frenchmen who arrived in 1795 and named it La Belle Prairie after their home province of Canada. In 1836, General Antonio López de Santa Anna founded Austin's first military post here as Camp Bowie; it then became the capital of Travis County under Mexican rule before being renamed Galena Park on October 1, 1869. A large cotton plantation called "The Cotton patch" operated here until 1865 when it was bought by Jno. Mclntyre & Co., a shipping and mercantile concerns based in Liverpool Street, London (now Fenway). Irish immigrants began arriving in great numbers during this time and many built homes around present day Fourth Street NW and US Highway 611 east of I-10. In 1907 President William McKinley issued an executive order establishing Ft Worth as the new national capital; Galena Park became its administrative center with Government House (later Congress Hall) becoming its seat of government on November 15 that year. The following year saw the opening of the first school for black children in America – Booker T Washington Elementary School – which would become one of Americas' most famous public schools system back then (). On July 21st 1915 local businessmen organized a picnic to celebrate Texas independence from Mexico at Balch Springs Battlefield near present day Anahuac Creek Trailhead north of town; cowboy poet Pancho Villa attended this event along with other notable Texans such as Sam Houston and Clinton Woodbury later immortalized in fiction by Robert E Lee (). After World War II many residents moved away to find jobs or settle down outside the city limits but some returned over time including Mayor Bob Carpenter who served from 1979 until his retirement on May 24th 2003 There have been several major events associated with Galena Park during its history including: 1) The 1916 Texas Revolution: On April 14th 1916 members of the Lone Star Legion demonstrated against newly implemented Mexican rule at Camp Bowie after discovering food shortages caused by American involvement in World War I; these protests would lead to greater violence throughout 1915-1916 leading to increased law enforcement activity within our city limits 2) The Battle for Westphalia: Confederate forces led by General Johnston fought an unsuccessful attempt to take control of City Limits through guerrilla warfare starting on September 10th 1863 resulting in dozens dead on both sides with no endin sight Watch Tower Bible & Tract Society building destroyed also resulting fatalities 3) The arrival of automobiles: Automobiles started arriving into our city limits beginning around 1910 becoming more common as traffic grew heavier so people could work closer together insteadof havingto travel out each evening

The first commercial shot shells were created by Nicholas-Jacques Conte in 1795 using small shot balls filled with black powder and fired from an armillary sphere. These early projectiles had no real stopping power but they caused some damage when struck by another object, demonstrated their potential by hitting one of Napoleon’s cannons in 1805. In 1812, George Stephenson invented the steamship engine which allowed large quantities of gunpowder to be carried on board without being unloaded; this led to the development of artillery ammunition. In 1815, John Brown & Company became the first company to produce Metallic Cartridge Coils (MCC). MCC was developed as an alternative to flamethrowers because it did not requireoiler technology which would have resulted in expensive equipment added at every manufacturing site. The MCC cartridge was used in cannonball disposal during World War I after being discovered that other munitions could be handled safely if these cartridges were used instead

Galena Park is a small town located in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. It was historically inhabited by the Wichita and Chisholm Apache nations. The town was platted in 1881 by Alexander Hawkins and named after the mineral galena. It became an agricultural center with cattle operations and a post office until the early 20th century. The population of Galena Park decreased from its peak of 103 in 1920 to just 15 people in 1940. However, it has increased since then to over 100 residents. The town also has a small park that features a playground, basketball court, baseball diamond, and other facilities. In 1912, Attorney General Harry Laughlin filed a lawsuit against Texaco for pollution in Galveston Bay which led to passage of the Clean Water Act by Congress that same year. In 1936, Mayor Carroll approved an ordinance allowing public utilities to build electric transmission lines across town from their substations near University Station to downtown Galena Park This became known as "The Electric Utility Doctrine". By 1960 there were over 100 businesses operating in downtown Galena Park with over 1,000 workers employed outside of business hours; this number had increased to more than 2,000 employees by 1990 when oil production ended and downtown business declined thereafter
