Friendswood is a small town in Texas, located in Cowtown County. It is the only municipality in Cowtown County. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. The first people to live in Friendswood were the Henningsons who moved there from Minnesota in 1879. They built their home on what is now known as North Main Street. In 1907, Gertrude and Clyde Willis bought land east of North Main and set up a farm with four cows and twelve pigs. The Willises gave away all of their property to Friendswood citizens during a town meeting on December 9, 1907. On May 5, 1912, Friendswood residents voted overwhelmingly to incorporate as a village. The incorporation was approved by the Texas Legislature on July 20, 1912. Friendswood's history goes back even further than that! Its foundation can be traced back to 1872 when two friends named John and Anna Hutchinson purchased 640 acres (262 hectares) of land east of Friendswood Creek with the intent of developing it into a community they called "Hutchinsonville." When they did not find enough buyers for their land, they sold it off piece by piece until they acquired 1,814 acres (729 hectares) totality including present-day Friendship Heights which became part of Friendswood on January 1st 1902 after Alice Ahern donated her block lot No. 7 for that purpose . friendship woody was named after Anna Hutchinsons daughter who helped plant some trees along Elm street near her home in 1928
