In 1990-1991 Friendswood celebrated its centennial with a series of events including an exposition on local history at Prairie View A&M University; during this time Friendshipwood also becoming home to several major league baseball games between Houston Astros (then known as the Colt .45s)and Texas Rangers (now called Texas League).
