These new automatic firearms were called “pistols” or “gadgets” because they were not really effective at firing projectiles more than 10 yards (8 meters). However, these guns soon proved themselves when they were used successfully against British soldiers at Battle of Waterloo (1815), leading Napoleon to proclaim this battle “the great victoryof arms [that] decided our fate”[1]. After Waterloo, handguns gradually replaced cannon as the main weapon type in armies around the world[2]. They quickly became popular among civilians too because they could be easily carried without being attached to any armour or bodyguard[3], making them ideal for self-defense or hunting.[4] In 1902, Colt Manufacturing Company introduced their Model 1911 revolver which became well known both domestically and internationally due to its accuracy and reliability[5]. During World War II millions of Americans bought weapons like pistols from patriotic American dealers such as Sears Roebuck & Co., who distributed nearly two million pistols through their stores across America[6], helping make gun ownership one of America’s most entrenched traditions

Friendswood is a town in Johnson County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,853 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The town began as a small community on the banks of the Trinity River and grew rapidly due to its location near Fort Worth and other major urban centers. In 1925, Friendswood annexed what were then rural portions of Johnson County and became one of the fastest-growing communities in Texas. Today, Friendswood remains an agricultural center with a population of around 1,000 people that still relies heavily on agriculture for their economy. Friendswood's history dates back to 1836 when two friends named John Wittington and James Caldwell purchased land east of downtown Houston from Govans Creek Indian tribe members under the terms of Treaty 7A. They named their new settlement "Friendswood" after General David Montgomery's headquarters near present-day Fort Worth (Montgomery had defeated Mexican forces at San Jacinto). As early as 1837, Friendswood was hosting weekly meetings for settlers who had journeyed from far away to purchase land in this fertile region. By 1840, FriendswOOD had a store and post office and about fifty residents. The earliest growth in Friendswood was due to demand for goods produced by local farmers such as hay, cornmeal, cottonseed oil and tobacco products which were shipped directly to larger markets in Dallas-Fort Worth or West Texas City. In 1886, Friendswood moved from its original site along Trinity River upstream towards modern day Humble Road because it feared flooding during heavy rains that year. A small dam located downstream provided enough water storage for the community until 1911 when a more significant dam was built just north of town boundaries straddling Willow Creek resulting in increased flooding which destroyed some homes dating back to 1836 includingFriendswood's first schoolhouse which reopened in 1913 after being rebuilt using $2 million dollars raised by civic groups led by Mayor J B Frankson Since becoming an incorporated municipality in 1925 Friendswood has undergone many changes including annexing neighboring townships (Lubbock 1987), addition of subdivisions (Norman 1984) surface water Reclamation Districts (1991), annexation of nearby cities ( surrounding Johnson County )(Lubbock 1987; 2002), establishment/establishmentof Economic Development Districts & Agencies Area encompassing most aspectsof city government services& economic development& public access areasto downtownDowntownHouston&Humble Rd.(2000)and today continues rapid growth representedby 4th Ward currentpopulation over 10 thousand withbooming real estate values
