In 1916 Fidelity Banks opened its doors here after acquiring interest in First National Bank of Wichita Falls (which had been founded by James Hargrave Freestone) In 1922 when Proctor Manufacturing Company moved its headquarters from Topeka to Ft Worth there was significant growth for Freeport with many new jobs being created for locals including manufacturing goods for local residents such as crockery and china that would be exported all over the world In 1951 when Texas Electric Power Plant was built adjacent to town limits this led to even more increased activity around town with businesses expanding into retail space while still maintaining production at Proctor Manufacturing Company which continued until 1966 When that company merged with Gulf Associated Products Corporation one of largest manufacturing companies in Texas

In 1851 Houston sold all his holdings east of the river to James Kenedy for $3 million dollars which made Freeport an official city limits town on January 1, 1852 The railroad arrived at Freeport on April 12th, 1899 via Tomball station making it possible for goods to be transported directly from Waco acrossland into Dallas without having to go through Fort Worth or Beaumont On October 30th 1905 Mayor Wiley Davenport proclaimed "Easter Sunday" after being inspired by seeing Communion services being celebrated at Trinity Episcopal Church in Arlington Heights Illinois that day that followed a sermon preached by Rev Dr John Fenton Williams Freeport experienced two devastating fires during World War II: one started by Japanese bombers over Pearl Harbor on December 7th 1941 and quickly grew out of control; due largely to Allied air raids over Japan that continued until early 1944; while the other began within hours following bombing raids against Tokyo Bay - blamed squarely upon incendiary bombs dropped by American bombers - using oil refineries as targets Audubon Ballroom had been destroyed along with most much important businesses including Reuben Goldsboro dye works also lost heavy damage but no loss of life occurred
