Frederick's County, Texas was founded in 1836 by James Fenton and others. The county seat was established in 1839 at Fredericksburg. On July 1, 1840, the Republic of Texas was created from portions of Mexican and United States territory east of the Rio Grande. On December 6, 1850, the first session of the General Assembly convened at Fredericksburg. The territorial legislature adopted a new constitution on January 11, 1851. The first election for members to the General Assemblies were held on February 3, 1851. On January 19th 1861 Confederate troops attacked a Union battery near Fredericksburg during the American Civil War. Confederate Lt.-Colonel David Ewell ordered his regiment to charge the Union troops which resulted in an intense battle that lasted three hours and ended with about 50 casualties on both sides. The Battle of Fredericksburg is honored by statute as a National Military Cemetery commemorating fallen soldiers from all sides of the conflict in Texas.

On January 1st 1865, President Abraham Lincoln issued an executive order withdrawing Confederate troops from Texas effective January 1st 1865! This event helped spur development around Fredericksburg which included several new businesses and homes being erected during this time including the Post Office Building (1883) which still stands today and The Crystal Palace Hotel (1904). Fredericksburg was a small town in Tomball County, Texas, United States. It was founded in 1873 by Colonel John H. Fredericks and his wife, Sarah Gibson. The Fredericksburg Post Office opened in 1875. The town had a population of 350 people in 1880. In 1905, the town's school district merged with the Tomball Independent School District to form the Tomball-Fredericksburg Educational District. The Fredericksburg Volunteer Fire Department was organized in 1909. The Fredricksburgh Methodist Episcopal Church was built in 1912 and its first service was on October 12th that year. In 1914, AEG Corporation began manufacturing airguns here at their plant on FM 727 west of Fredericksburg. However, production stopped after World War I because of US military restrictions on importation of firearms into the US; this event is generally considered to be the beginning of the end for Fredericksburg as a gun-producing center though some remnants remain until today (e.g., company archives).
