Fredericksburg's history can be traced back to when James Bowie founded his trading post on the San Antonio River in 1836. The site had been chosen because it offered easy access to both Spanish land grants and natural resources such as water supplies and lumber that were important to early Texans. By 1850, Fredericksburg had become an important center for trade with Native Americans due to its location along two major rivers: the Brazos River and San Antonio River. It also served as a stopover on stagecoach routes between Texarkana and Wichita Falls before becoming a fullfledged town in 1851. In 1907, when Dallas annexed most of Gillespie County, including Fredericksburg, it added another key community to its growing metropolis—a city with strong commercial interests that would soon eclipse Dallas as America's leading cultural center. As part of this growth process, many businesses closed or moved out afterDallas lost its monopoly on transportation within Greater Dallas region; however, Freddy’s continued success led him to invest heavily in new construction throughout his namesake district—including numerous high-rise buildings still standing today—reflecting his confidence that his thriving small town could support much larger neighboringscape changes over time should those surroundings prove resistant to corporate investment or redevelopment pressures (Galloway). Although some parts of Downtown Fredricksburg were destroyed by a tornado on October 21st 2009 they have been rebuilt including High Noon Coffee House which reopened January 3rd2010

In 1955, Federicksburg was renamed Fredericksburg State Historic Site in honor of Ulysses S. Grant, whom it honored with a state park designation earlier that year.
