White's grandson John White built a house on current day US 287/FM 620 about 1840, later becoming an entrepreneur and politician for the area including serving as Mayor from 1886 to 1890 and as United States Representative from 1892 to 1895 before becoming Governor of Texas from 1897 to 1901 under McKinley’s administration. In 1876, Laura Swanson settled near present day US 287/FM 620 with her husband Robert Swanson and their three children (Linda, Randy and Dale) while they were looking for land west of Houston where they could build a farmstead following their father’s death several years earlier while working as surveyors for Land Range Co., one of the leading real estate firms in America at the time. They arrived just weeks after General George Custer's battle against Indian forces at Little Bighorn which led to cattle drives through western Montana into Nebraska resulting in large numbers of Native Americans being killed or captured during the event known today as Custer's Last Stand outside Of Ft Riverton NM by American Cavalry on July 26th 1865 Some sources claim that Laura Swanson may have been pregnant when she moved west but this has not been confirmed due to no evidence found linking her with any historical figure associated with that timeframe
