Hargrave who arrived in 1872. Hargrave's land included what are now Forest Hill and parts of Slaughter Heights and Planozona neighborhoods. Forrest Hill Elementary School opened kindergarten through eighth grade in fall 1966, becoming one of the first schools within the Dallas-Fort Worth school district. In fall 1968, Forest Hills High School became a part of the new Dallas Independent Schools District (DISD). At that time it was one of only a few high school students living withinDISD boundaries; all other students were sent to nearby Fair Park or Mesquite High Schools for their 9th through 12th grades. In 1969 DISD partnered with Baylor University to open Baylor-affiliated Lone Star College Downtown which offered undergraduate degrees from arts and sciences faculties as well as graduate degrees from business administration, engineering/technology, law/policy studies and medicine/dentistry programs. In 1994 DISD merged with Denton Independent School District (later Denton Consolidated School District) to form Denton ISD which still includes Forrest Hills High School today as its flagship institution。In 2003 DISD merged with Richardson ISD (formerly Richardson Consolidated School District) to form Richardson Consolidated School District 2 (RCSD2). Consequently Forrest Hills' enrollment has continued uninterruptedly growing since then reaching 531 students by 2009 when RCSD2 merged with Garland ISDs (Garland CISDs had been formed in 2001 from portions of Richardson ISDs). Today there are over 1,100 students enrolled at Forrest Hills ElementarySchool including 210 international students representing 45 countries!
