In 1969, Forest Hills fire destroyed many homes on Main Street including those of Hokey Sockett and his wife Irene. As a result of this event and subsequent fires that burned throughout Kendall County during 1971-1972 - which included two large Volunteer Fire Departments response - the community began efforts to rebuild using both public money and private donations with local architects designing new homes exclusively for residents within 10 miles of Forest Hill village limits without regard to price or materiality whatsoever; these homes have been called "The Village" and continue to serve as part of today's downtown core around which much business activity takes place while still maintaining their character as historic residences with liveable spaces inside/outside their walls... Many people credit former Mayor Lamar Alexander with originating efforts within City Hall eventually leading to incorporation with Village status when he served two terms starting in 1984 through 1990... On July 26th 2002 Forrest Hill will commemorate its Centennial Year when all homebuilt prior 1902 will become exempt from sales tax making them eligible for preservation through registry program run by Heritage Foundation under direction of City Manager Jeff Frye

The first building, a cabin, was built in 1849. The Forrests continued to operate their ranch until the early 1800s when it became part of the Rancho San Antonio de Padua empire. In 1892, John Denton purchased the Rancho San Antonio de Padua from the Forrest family and renamed it Forest Hills after himself. The name stuck around until 1907 when it reverted back to its original name of Forest Road.
