In 1916, the Forest Hill Rifle and Pistol Club was organized in Forest Hill, Texas. The club enjoyed hunting and shooting clay pigeons from a location on the east side of town. In 1922, the club moved to its present location on Old Fort Road. In 1934, the Forest Hill Rifle and Pistol Club became part of the Texas Rifle Association. From 1934-1939, the club hosted its annual rifle championships at Hutchins Stadium in Dallas. That year saw also the first Texas pistol championship held at Hutchins Stadium. The club disbanded in 1939 but reformed in 1950 as a member of Lone Star Gun Club (now known as NRA). The club continued to host its annual rifle championships until 1979 when they no longer did so due to budget limitations. The old stadium was then used for other purposes until it was torn down in 1984.
Forest Hill is a small town in Texas that was founded in 1876. The population of Forest Hill was 1,811 at the 2010 census. The community is located in Prairie View A&M University District and is adjacent to the Garrett County seat of Sherman. The first settlement in what would become Forest Hill was made up of volunteers who had come across a tract of land which had been donated by John Neely Bryan. The name for the village, which would be named after General James Forrest, came about because many people could not pronounce Forrest's surname, "Hill." In 1876, Forest Hill became the county seat of Garrett County when it was created from parts of Archer and Potter counties. At that time, its population totaled only 2 people. However, due to its location on the main road connecting Dallas and Houston, Forest Hill quickly became an important commercial center for the surrounding area. During World War II, Forest Hill served as a transit stop for servicemen living in nearby Sherman while they underwent training or were deployed to fight in Europe. In addition, during that time it also served as home to many local farmers who grew crops such as cotton and corn on their own property or delivered them to local stores. In 1984, Highland Park-based Texaco bought most of what remained of Waco-based ExxonMobil and moved its corporate headquarters from downtown Houston to suburban Fort Worth; this move increased competition between Texaco and Waco among other energy companies throughout Texas. As a result of this rivalry, rumors circulated around Fort Worth that Texaco wanted to demolish much ofWaco so it could build an even bigger refinery there - until finally ExxonMobil canceled those plans shortly before they were ever put into action (the same year Texaco merged with Mobil). This event led to some animosity between Texans who felt displaced by new industry - including some residents of Forest Hill - while others saw this decision as another example of how business interests had taken over government decisions。 Consequently, voted upon by both houses in 1986 (following Chevron's acquisition ofTexaco), Forresthill reverted back to its original name: Forest Hills – thanks largely in part to natural gas production operations now taking place within the community itself (and through annexation by neighboring Clear Fork Township). Within a few years however all activity within theVillage ceased save for occasional concerts/festivals organized by various organizations like Heritage Days Committee & Folklore Society

Forest Hill is a small town in Ellis County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,674 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1879 by J.D. Forest and his bride, Lucy Atherton. It is named after Forest's father-in-law, John Hill. The first post office at Forest Hill was established on November 14, 1879, and the present one was built in 1961. The name of the village has been variously spelled "Forrest," "Ford," "Fordsville," and "Forest." The original growth of Forest Hill took place around two railroad tracks that ran through the town; one served as the town's main depot while the other served as its commercial center with a grocery store, bakery/cafeteria, bank (1881), hotel (1911), telephone company (1915), and a machine shop (1880). In 1916 there were three schools in Forest Hills: a public school for grades 1 to 4; an all-girls school called Forrest Elementary; and a boys high school called Forrest Junior High School which had only ninth grade students until it became coed in 1970. In 1927 ForestHill had 10 businesses: five groceries including Smith's Grocery & Feed Store; three blacksmiths - Roper & Sons forge business being operated out of their home on Main Street where they still operate today; two farmers markets each week from May to October; four churches - First Baptist Church on Elm Street which predated World War II by more than sixty years; an insurance agency - Hogue & Partners located off Center Street opposite Main Street where majorities resided until 1957 when it merged with State Farm Insurance Company And finally two nightclubs - Cotton Club on Elm Street which closed down in 1980 after several years of operation then reopened under new management as The Loft nightclub later known as The Pointe club before closing again in 1990 All these businesses are now historical landmarks within the limits of Forest Hills Village Historic District
On October 6, 1879, a group of farmers and ranchers in the Forest Hill area of Texas organized the first Agricultural Society in that state. They agreed to form a society to promote agriculture and make donations to local libraries. The society was renamed the Texas State Historical Association in 1903. In 1907, the TSB adopted a resolution recognizingforest hills as an important agricultural center and inviting other organizations to establish branches here. In 1925, TSB members donated land forthe Texas Forestry School on South Lamar Boulevard. On November 16, 1938, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed legislation creating the National Park Service The Forest Hill Museum is located on Forest Hills Drive adjacent to Civil Air Patrol Base which used to be home of TX CASA (Civilian Conservation Corps) Unit 5471 which was also one of Dallas' early parks
