Forest Hill is a small town in Harris County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,715 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded in 1881 by Captain John Hance and his family as a ranch called Hance's Ranch. The name "Forest Hill" was given to it because of the many forested acres that were located near it. In 1915, Forrest Dickey opened the first grocery store in Forest Hill and continued to operate it until 1978. In 1984, Texaco merged with Mobil Oil andTexaco closed its stores in Houston and other areas within months of each other. Forest Hill became an enclave for oil company employees living off-campus in their own homes or on leased properties outside of town limits. The last Texaco store closed its doors in 2000 after more than 40 years of business operation. At that time, only one other business operated within the boundaries of Forest Hill: a convenience store which opened in 1997 but closed five years later due to lack of customers and competition from new developments closer to town center. Today, there are just two businesses operating within the boundaries of Forest Hill: GNC (a health food store) and TrophyFCU (a multi-purpose game room/fitness center). These businesses are relatively new arrivals to the community; TrophyFCU opened its doors in 2006 and GNC arrived two years later. both stores have struggled with low customer volume and limited parking spaces; however, they offer some unique features unique to their locations such as live music Fridays nights from 7pm-10pm upstairs at GNC and monthly arcade games throughout the summer season at TrophyFCU

Forest Hill is a small town located in Wise County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,494 at the 2010 census. Forest Hill was founded by settlers in 1881. It had a post office from 1882 to 1886 and from 1907 to 1909. The name of the town derives from "Fernald" meaning "forest". The first settler in Forest Hill was J.C. Fernald who arrived with his family on April 10, 1881, during the early days of Texas settlement. After several years of farming and ranching experience, Fernald decided to move his family to what would become Forest Hill in order to start anew and pursue opportunities for agriculture and Ranching ventures outside of their original home state of New York. In 1906, when Texas became an independent country under the rules of the Republic of Texas, forest hills became part of that new country as well - officially becoming known as "Fort Worth" on November 15th that year by proclamation from President William McKinley II himself! A group of citizens gathered together and voted on February 4th, 1907 to change the name once again - this time it went with "Forest Hill" after J.C.'s great-grandfather who had settled there some 35 years earlier! It wasn't until 1927 that Fort Worth annexed all but one mile (2 km) westwardof existing Forest Hills - quickly making it one contiguous community with a population over 2,000 residents! Today much has changed since then: businesses have relocated away; homes have been replaced by condos or other high-rise structures; but Fort Worth's rich history is still very much alive & well hereabouts!
Forest Hill was founded in 1872 by L.V. Forrest and his brother, J.W. Forrest as a small farming community on the banks of the lower Brazos River. The family named their farm "Forest Hill" after the nearby forest they had returned to visit every year since childhood. The Forrest brothers started out with just a few acres of land, but quickly realized that they had to have more if they were going to keep up with the growing city of Austin. They began buying additional land, and soon enough, Forest Hill consisted of over 120 acres of rural farmland stretched along both sides of the Brazos River. The farmhouses that remain today are some of the earliest examples of American architecture and reflect the values laid down by L.V. Forrest: self-reliance, hard work, and respect for nature."
